He even tried cutting him with his sword, but the sword broke instantly and Clark just had to flick him off the yacht to win.

#8: His Sword was made by God to kill other Gods

Facts About Deathstroke Deadliest DC Villain

Deathstroke’s sword “The God Killer”, was crafted by the Greek God of Blacksmiths and Metalworking, Hephaestus to kill his enemies. The sword could discharge vorpal shock-waves and redirect whatever force is met with and the primordial energy within it enabled it to shapeshift into a Bo staff, Twin Swords, etc. The sword could even be summoned by its owner via a mental link.

#9: He gave Batman a spectacular beating

Facts About Deathstroke Deadliest DC Villain

In the City of Assassins’ story arc, Deathstroke was attacked by Batman, to stop him. Deathstroke then gave Batman one of his all-time worst beatings. Batman is, well Batman, but Deathstroke had all the skills of Batman plus the super-serum in him. He left Batman unconscious as he didn’t think Batman was a threat to care about.

#10: The World’s Deadliest Assassin

Facts About Deathstroke Deadliest DC Villain

In Deathstroke: Gods of War, it was mentioned that Deathstroke never failed during his entire ‘career’ as an assassin. He had over 600 confirmed kills and even though the FBI and the CIA knew about his identity, they couldn’t do anything. Deathstroke first analyzed all his contracts thoroughly and only then he picked his contracts.

The Suicide Squad Rumor – Idris Elba May Actually Be Playing Deathstroke

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad seems to be coming through really well. The Squad has been formed and the cast is ready. The ultimate villain of the film is still supposed to be a female, but this time it is going to be an alien. We don’t know who this big bad is really going to be, but assuming that half of the squad members were scrapped from the bottom of the barrel, we can safely say the same for the villain. Another mystery that surrounds this film is that who exactly Idris Elba would be playing.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

The first announcement of Idris Elba joining the Suicide Squad went as him replacing Will Smith’s Deadshot. People loved Will Smith’s Deadshot but since Idris Elba is a great actor, everyone was onboard with the decision. Smith couldn’t make it back due to scheduling conflicts. But then what we got was the right announcement of how things should have always been (and perhaps were). Idris Elba did not sign on to replace Will Smith as Deadshot, but he was supposed to play a different character altogether.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

WB decided to make room for Will Smith’s future return and that really was the best choice in my opinion (‘Cause Will Smith is Love!). It is a good choice even if we’d have to watch a Suicide Squad film without Deadshot taking charge. But given that Idris Elba is also a big name actor and would form a worthy leader of the team, we could imagine that he also would be playing some big name character.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

A New Rumor started by Geeks Worldwide actually indicates that he’d be playing a character that will have a daughter. Deadshot is out of the question so that brings us to choose from either Sportsmaster or Deathstroke. Everyone knows who Deathstroke is and his daughter is Rose Wilson aka Ravager. People who’ve seen Young Justice would be familiar with Sportsmaster and his daughter Artemis.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

Since Joe Manganiello is already contracted to play Deathstroke in the Worlds of DC, we could assume that Idris Elba would be playing Deathstroke. But as we’ve seen with the rest of the shared Universe, long contracts have actually meant nothing for more than half of the Justice League.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

Henry Cavill is more or less done and so is Ben Affleck. WB won’t do anything with Ray Fisher’s Cyborg ever, so he’s gone. Ezra Miller is up to all sorts of no good. Only the likes of AquaMoa and WonderGal will continue as they have made a lot of money. So, how can we really assume that an actor who has played a character for literally 10 seconds cannot be replaced?

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

James Gunn is working on a reboot sequel and probably he has been given the right to do whatever he want. So he can have Elba playing Deathstroke. If Deadshot is being replaced from the film then we’d need a worthy replacement, so who better than Slade Wilson himself? Sportsmaster is not that big of a name as Deathstroke is. But that’s the beauty of casting Idris Elba. He can make every character perfect.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

So we think James Gunn should go with him playing Sportsmaster because he being Deathstroke would create at least a couple plot holes. Replacing an actor is okay, but how can the Ethnicity of the character change completely? The second thing is that how exactly did Slade Wilson end up into prison after teaming up with Lex Luthor, who apparently broke out of prison like it was a piece of cake.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

Let’s see what happens. We’d be happy if Elba didn’t replace Manganiello as that is yet another example of such perfect casting. It’s funny how DC really hasn’t been able to capitalize on all of their amazing casting choices. If you take a not for every actor cast to play a hero, you’d see that they have an amazing resemblance to their comic book counterparts. The only actor who has been miscast is none other than Jesse Eisenberg. Moreover, he actually played the character wrong.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

Jared Leto was a great casting choice, but his product was overdone in every way! Still, The Suicide Squad follows a great set of actors that can pull in huge crowds. Idris Elba will be joining Michael Rooker who is playing King Shark. Jai Courtney is going to return as Captain Boomerang along with Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg. John Cena has joined in as Peacemaker, Ant-Man’s David Dastmalchian is Polkadot Man and Daniela Melchior is being looked upon as Ratcatcher.

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

According to the Hollywood Reporter here’s the character breakdown of the new members of the franchise:

“Plot details are being kept secret but the new characters include DC villains such as Ratcatcher (she controls rats), Peacemaker (he loves peace so much he will kill for it), King Shark (would you believe us if we told you it’s a humanoid shark?) and last but certainly not least, Polka-Dot Man… Gunn has shown an affinity for pretty obscure comic characters — this one has appeared less than a dozen times since his creation — and the character is said to lean into his embarrassment of his ‘lame’ abilities.”

The Suicide Squad Idris Elba Deathstroke

We can imagine this film to be another musical adventure. Since it is set up around bad guys, we could get a bit more fun from the characters as Gunn won’t have to hold them back from doing considerable bad things. Let’s see which character Idris Elba turns out to play and how this film turns out to be. It will begin production by the end of this year and premiere in theaters on August 6, 2021.

Deathstroke Permanently Out of The Arrowverse, All Thanks To Warner Bros.

The Arrow TV Show has given us a lot of memorable and forgettable villains. The forgettable ones include Ra’s Al Ghul and Brother Blood. The memorable ones consist of Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk. Yet no villain, no matter how funky or bloodthirsty or batshit crazy could be a fan favorite as Manu Bennett’s Deathstroke. His entry in Arrow’s season 2 was nothing short of spectacular.

The season 2 of Arrow TV series will continue to be the best ever in the show’s history. And it’s not because of Stephen Amell particularly, instead, it’s because of the season villain – Slade Wilson/Deathstroke played by Manu Bennett.

At Lian Yu, Oliver was put in a very tight spot when he had to choose between his secret lover and his girlfriend. He decided to let Shado go to save Sara. This angered his partner Slade and he came to Starling city to avenge the death of his girlfriend Shado as he believed Oliver is responsible for her death as he chose to protect Sara Lance.

He brought an entire army of Mira Kuru soldiers to Starling city who took it under their control, assassinated top officials and bribed others (including Mayor). The season was gritty, tense and edgy, the villain was relatable, the story was grounded and Oliver was all heroic with his bow and arrow.

He not only had this weird aura of evil around him that the other villains of the Arrowverse (except Prometheus and Reverse Flash) sorely lacked, but also noteworthy was Manu’s terrific accented portrayal of Slade Wilson’s character. Prometheus is still considered Arrowverse’s greatest villain till date.

But had Slade Wilson recently not chosen the path of the Anti Hero, he could have given Adrian Chase/ Prometheus a serious run for his money.

So when his departure from the Arrowverse came into the picture, there was a huge outcry amongst the fans. His eventual re-entry into the Arrowverse in Arrow Season 5 and his continued appearances in Season 6 led fans to hope that maybe this time Deathstroke will stick around longer. Perhaps even join Team Arrow (Wouldn’t that be a sight for sore eyes!!).

But news has been circulating throughout the grapevine fellas. And the news is bad, very bad regarding Manu Bennett and Deathstroke. If rumors are indeed true, Deathstroke may be permanently out of the Arrowverse never to return again.

Arrow Season 6 will be Deathstroke’s final appearance in the Arrowverse. Gone are the hopes of Slade Wilson joining Team Arrow and getting more screen time.

Gone are the days when fans hoped maybe next time Slade Wilson will feature in next year’s CW mega-crossover event and kick ass. Slade Wilson is gone for good. All thanks to Warner Bros, Deathstroke will no longer be in the Arrowverse.

This is not the first instance when WB studios tried to meddle in Arrowverse affairs. When there were talks of Arrowverse including a Suicide Squad with John Diggle and Harley Queen, David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad movie put that plan into the backtrack as well.

With Joe Manganiello playing Deathstroke in the DCEU and possibly in the upcoming Justice League Sequel, the studio does not want the fans to get confused between the Arrowverse Deathstroke and the DCEU one. The only solution is to let Manu Bennett’ Deathstroke go.

One of the post-credit scenes of Justice League had Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke played by Joe Manganiello boarding a yacht meeting Lex Luthor who suggested to him that they should have a league of their own (referring to Legion of Doom). According to new reports, DCEU is trying to use that scene as “the connective tissue” for upcoming DCEU projects.

At ACE Comic-Con, Mark Guggenheim – Arrowverse showrunner, was asked about Deathstroke’s current status in the Arrowverse. He had this to say:

These are DC’s characters, we’re just renting them ya know, so we use the characters that they tell us we can use when we can use them, and we work around whatever limitations that places us … For a time they were saying ‘you can’t use Deathstroke’, and that changed and we were able to have Slade Wilson back on the show, and now we’re back to ‘you can’t use him’. They’re working on the feature film version, it really is sort of now that you’ve got obviously Slade, spoiler alert, Deathstroke appears at the end of the Justice League movie.

So what Guggenheim vaguely means is that the Warner Bros. studios have screwed him over. The bluntness in his words is hard to miss. Deathstroke will soon be out of the Arrowverse and not even the head of the Arrowverse could do anything about it.

Deathstroke

The reason given by the studio to take the character out of the show completely is – there can’t be two Deathstrokes. But there are already two Barry Allens aka the Flash. Grant Gustin plays it in The CW’s Flash TV show and Ezra Miller played it in Justice League and will do the same in the Flashpoint movie being planned. Henry Cavill’s Superman has appeared in three movies in DCEU.

While the Arrowverse’s Supergirl also has Superman as a supporting character. If figures as big as the Scarlet Speedster and the Man of Steel escaped the Studio’s better judgment, then why is a character as less well known as Deathstroke is being singled out? It just doesn’t make any sense.

Season 6 of Arrow did have Deathstroke’s best moments in the Arrowverse. Slade Wilson employs Oliver Queen to locate his long-lost son. When that plan goes awry, Slade dons the vigilante mask and goes on a freaking rampage. The episode ended with his son, who has become a mercenary like his father, on the run and Deathstroke back into the shadows after bidding adieu to Oliver Queen.

While the episode was not a proper sendoff to Manu Bennett’s Slade Wilson, but we have to come to terms with it. But Season 6 did leave the possibility for Deathstroke returning in the future. Maybe the WB studios get back to their senses and allow Deathstroke back into the Arrowverse.

The fans of Arrow will surely miss Manu Bennett as he struck a deep chord with the viewers who can’t get enough of him. We wish him all the best for his career ahead in Hollywood. Given his talent, he should get meaty roles in big-budget movies, but please Manu get out of MTV’s Shannara Chronicles already. Just kidding :/

Deathstroke Solo Movie Confirmed! Here Are The Details

Deathstroke is one of the most trending characters right now and the hype train for this character started when he appeared as the villain for Arrow season 2. The hype continued when it was confirmed that Deathstroke is going to be the villain of the first Batman solo movie set up in the DCEU. Joe Manganiello was cast as Deathstroke and fans went crazy over it.

Ever since Ben Affleck stepped down as the director of The Batman, Deathstroke’s fate has been hanging in the dry and fans were not sure whether he would still be playing the villain in the Batman movie which has been helmed by Matt Reeves now. As Reeves is starting the script from scratch, it has become highly unlikely that Deathstroke will still be the main villain for the movie.

A while ago Joe confirmed that WB and DC still have plans for him and he knows what they are, but cannot yet share with the audiences. Now, WB and DC Films have come to our rescue as they have confirmed that a solo movie about the merciless assassin, Deathstroke is now under development and it will star Joe Manganiello as DC’s terminator and will be helmed by “The Raid” Director Gareth Evans.

According to the recent reports, Evans is in “early discussions” about the film with WB, and it has not yet been confirmed that will the film be a part of the DCEU or not. Well, it is highly likely that it will surely be. According to the report, the film is currently “in development, to be determined!”

DC fans are very excited about this news and the internet went haywire with fans’ reactions about the movie. Manganiello’s Deathstroke was rumoured to have a secret debut in Justice League which would have set up the Solo Batman movie, but that all went away when Ben Affleck stepped down as the Director.

This new solo movie sets up a possibility for Deathstroke’s huge future in the DCEU and the Batman franchise as well. Here is why Deathstroke is perfect for DCEU and Batman’s Universe as well.

He is a realistic Villain but still perfect for the DCEU

After seeing literal aliens, Gods and mystic villains in the DCEU movies, it would seem like a downer to see petty criminals. But a super soldier who both has super strength, smarts and a heightened sense false of righteous morality would be really interesting as it would ground the DCEU to reality and at the same time make it fictional as well.

He is an Assassin for hire

Unlike other villains, Deathstroke is a hired assassin which means that he won’t be anywhere unless someone told him to be there and to kill unless he’s been hired to kill. Wilson doesn’t let his agendas rule his profession. So that just leads one to wonder- who would hire Deathstroke? It will also give us a chance to know an origin story for the character we love.

His Appearance could lead to a future Robin

Deathstroke

Deathstroke was first introduced to the world of comics through Teen Titans. And who was a member of Teen Titans who is also associated with Batman? Robin. Maybe a Deathstroke movie will also lead to Batman finding a new Robin which is only son, Damian Wayne. He was mourning in Batman Vs Superman for his Boy Wonder, so this could lead to a new development on that aspect.

His origin could set up a Batman Sequel

Batman is one of the few superheroes to not have superpowers or be bitten by a mutant reptile of any kind. He is just a normal man with an agenda. Slade Wilson is a criminal with no real powers either. Both of them after being in their solo movies could tie in a sequel which we all are going to love. To see the two battle it out in a game of wits would even out the battle but who will win the war in the end?

He Could be Batman’s Redemption

Batman Vs. Superman saw a darker, more violent Batman who did not give a second thought to killing anyone. With Deathstroke solo movie, we could see the similarity between these two characters and this is how the caped crusader could find redemption and re-learn the compassion that he witnessed in Superman’s sacrifice if he finally faces an enemy with no principles. Maybe even resulting in him to go back to his one rule of No Killing if he is still not over it by the end of Justice League.

The New Promo For Arrow and Flash Revealed Who Survived The Island

Ever since The Flash and Arrow ended their respective seasons, we have been on big cliff hangers and we have been desperate for the new seasons. Now just one month is left until both these anticipated TV series premier. Due to the Comic Con trailers of both these shows, we got a little insight on what we can expect from both these shows in the upcoming seasons.

But, just those trailers were not enough, we want to know as much as possible. Thankfully for us,  both these shows have released new promos which provide great new details at our favorite heroes. Firstly, the promo of The Flash has hit the internet and the fans went crazy as we see Barry Allen return from the Speed Force. Here is the new The Flash promo.

But things seem quite changed and they aren’t what they seemed in this teaser trailer, as Barry Allen as we know of might be a changed man after his time away. From the looks of it, he’ll also have to face another threat against Iris West and Central City.

This new promo shows Barry with a sweet beard and longer hair than usual, which determines as if he has spent a lot of time in the Speed Force before finally returning to his friends and fiancé. Cisco even mentions that he made Barry a new Flash suit, which we previously caught a glimpse of from set photos and we have already seen it in Season 3 as the suit which future Barry wears when Carry goes to the future to get some answers.

Barry here appears to be feeling some lingering effects from the time when he was away, with the footage hinting that he is not quite the same happy and joyful Barry Allen that he has been throughout all the episodes in the last 3 seasons. He seems to be a pretty changed man.

The promo reveals a happy reunion of Barry and Iris, but time waits for no one and soon another villain has come to threaten Iris’ life, as Central City has to deal with a bad case of Samuroids who has demanded a fight against The Flash. While the nature of the new villain is pretty unclear right now, we previously saw a glimpse of the new character during the footage from San Diego Comic-Con fighting Team Flash.

Along with The Flash promo, we have also got a new promo for Arrow season 6. Here is the new promo of CW’s Arrow.

There is not much new information or footage in the trailer we saw above, likely because it would be really difficult to make a trailer without revealing who lived and who died on Lian Yu and that would totally break the suspense for us and will be a massive spoiler.

We saw Deathstroke and Black Siren in this trailer. Slade Wilson was revealed talking to Oliver at a hospital and he warns him that their days as vigilantes might come to an end real soon. Other than this, we saw in the Comic Con trailer that the new Black Canary had also survived Lian Yu so that makes it very plausible that almost the entire Team Arrow might come out alive with no casualties at all.

flash

We just have to wait for a little longer for our suspense to be broken. Arrow will return for its sixth season on Oct. 12, 2017, on The CW Network, with the season premiere episode titled as “Fallout.” Here is the Synopsis for the upcoming season.

“With the future of the team left hanging in the balance, Arrow gave new definition to the phrase “blowing up the show.” The emotional showdown between Oliver Queen and Adrian Chase was the perfect conclusion to a stellar fifth season of The CW’s gritty DC Super Hero series. Now, the focus shifts to uncovering the fate of each and every member of Team Arrow. Could anyone have possibly survived an island-wide explosion, or has the book closed on them, as it has on Oliver’s five-year flashback story? Returning to San Diego Comic-Con for a sixth consecutive year, cast members Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Emily Bett Rickards, Paul Blackthorne, Katie Cassidy, Echo Kellum, Juliana Harkavy, Rick Gonzalez and producers will be on-hand for an eye-opening conversation about the upcoming season.”

Along with Arrow, The Flash Season 4 returns on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, on the CW Network. Here is the official Synopsis for The Flash.

“Running up against an evil time remnant version of yourself is something no one should ever have to do, but that’s exactly what faced Barry Allen (aka The Flash) as he fought to save the life of fiancée Iris West from the God of Speed known as Savitar. Barry’s victory was short-lived, however, as an unbalanced Speed Force began to wreak havoc on Central City, forcing Barry to sacrifice himself for the greater good. With The Fastest Man Alive now trapped inside an extra-dimensional energy, and unknown dangers lurking in the shadows, it will be up to Team Flash to free Barry from his own personal Hell.

The Batman Solo Movie To Bring Major Supervillain And It Won’t Be Deathstroke

It was natural for DC and Warner Bros. to approach Ben Affleck to be the “creative man” who will co-direct and contribute to scripting the standalone movies of the new Batman franchise. He was the silver lining in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with a strong portrayal of the Dark Knight. But he stepped down due to creative differences and Matt Reeves (Planet of the Apes trilogy) was brought on board to helm the Batman solo movie. There was a period of lull in the life of Batman fans as they were upset at Ben Affleck leaving mid-way but as Matt opened up about his vision for the movie, the fans are totally supportive of him.

He said in an interview:

“I see a parallel emotionally between Caesar and Batman, in that they’re both tortured and trying to sort of grapple within themselves to try and do the right thing in a very imperfect and, to some degree, corrupt world. It’s really that emotionality that I’m interested in.”

He further shed light on how he would like to approach Batman, he added:

“In all of my films, what I try to do, in an almost Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become that character, and you emphasize with that point of view. There’s a chance to do an almost noir drove, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way, that will hopefully connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart.”

Matt revealed that he will be taking a page from Christopher Nolan’s playbook as he was inspired by the Dark Knight trilogy. He explained:

“What I love about what Nolan did was that he took the genre seriously. What studios willing to make at the moment are a very, very narrow band of films. What I discovered is that this genre has the potential to be about something more. You can use metaphors of the genre to talk about a lot.”

Recently, at MTV Happy Sad Confused podcast, Matt Reeves dropped a bombshell and revealed that he has tossed aside the entire script written by Ben Affleck and that he will start afresh. He said:

“No. It’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.”

Moreover, this may just throw everything out of the window including the villain i.e Deathstroke which was the first choice of Ben Affleck as he has not been done onscreen ever. The actor Joe Manganiello had already been cast to play him. But now speculation is that the new villain may be Penguin.

The reason why Deathstroke became so popular is that of the season 2 of Arrow TV series which is till date the best ever season in the show’s history. And it’s not because of Stephen Amell particularly, instead it’s because of the season villain – Slade Wilson/Deathstroke played by Manu Bennett. He came to Starling city to avenge the death of his girlfriend Shado as he believed Oliver is responsible for her death as he chose to protect Sara Lance. He brought an entire army of Mira Kuru soldiers to Starling city who took it under their control, assassinated top officials and bribed others (including Mayor). The season was gritty, tense and edgy, villain was relatable, story was grounded and Oliver was all heroic with his bow and arrow. And then he faded into oblivion and trapped in a maximum security prison forever until season 6 last couple of episodes when Oliver went to seek his help to take down Prometheus.

batman

Recently, Marc Guggenheim (Arrow show-runner) had an interview with Collider and explained lack of DCEU’s interest in the character. He had this to say:

“It was actually a function of… DC controls these characters, and we went through a period where DC was like, ‘We’ve got plans for Deathstroke that don’t involve Arrow.’ That changed at the end of the year.”

It is now confirmed that we will not see Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke in Batman solo movie. It was also rumored that he will feature in the Justice League but that ain’t happening either. Well, DCEU is quite a confusing place right now. CHEERS!

5 Reasons Why Deathstroke Needs A Series of His Own

With his recent appearance in Arrow and the Punisher being filmed, there is a clear demand for Deathstroke to be made into a T.V. Series. Here are some reasons why it should be done as soon as possible:

He’s A Trendsetter

The 90’s was a time of the anti-heroes, be it Blade, Punisher or the Crow, they all were in high demand back then, but then just fizzled out. But there was one who remained, Deathstroke, he’s someone who still is craved for by the fans, and who actually gave the concept for complex characters like the Red Hood. With Punisher coming to TV, there sure is hope for him now.

A Huge Number Of Storylines

Deathstroke has a number of origin stories, and all of them sure are interesting as hell. We have seen some of his origin stories in TV shows such as Arrow and Smallville, but he’s been given pretty less screen time. In order to know more about the character and his family drama, we need a show of his own.

His Skillset

Different TV shows have tried their best to show the physical and mental strength of the antagonist, but have yet shown nothing in comparison to the actual range of his strengths. Be it his physical regenerative capabilities or be it the fact that he can use 90% of his brain, or his super speed and physical prowess, he has a lot that still needs to be catered to the audience.

His Origin Story

People who’ve read the comics know about the character’s story, but the ones relying just on T.V. Shows don’t. Slade got into the army at the age of 16, which he lied about. There he falls in love with a fellow officer and is about to start a family when he’s sent as a reinforcement to the war in Vietnam, where he is thrilled by what he sees, he saves his friend and returns. When back, due to his skills, he’s selected for a Superhuman experiment, and we know what happens next.

The Complexity

deathstroke

Deathstroke is one character who we can say is really complex. He is not always the antagonist, fights off bad guys too. But for sure, he’s never the good guy. An assassin who lives by a code, an honorable mercenary struggling with a dreadful past sure is something that we need to watch on T.V.

7 Mind-Boggling Facts You May Not Know About Deathstroke

The season 2 of Arrow TV series will continue to be the best ever in the show’s history. And it’s not because of Stephen Amell particularly, instead, it’s because of the season villain – Slade Wilson/Deathstroke played by Manu Bennett. And then he faded into oblivion, trapped in a maximum security prison and key was thrown away by the show-makers.

Deathstroke

Here’s Why Deathstroke Is The Perfect VILLAIN For The Batman

For a while there, it seemed like there was no information on the new Batman solo project except the various speculations from fans. That changed after Ben Affleck dropped the bomb on fans by posting a short clip of Deathstroke on his Twitter. The actor created a buzz that may have been intentional or not, we will never know. It was soon confirmed that Deathstroke would be the main villain for the new film. Joe Manganiello was cast as the titular villain.

deathstroke-social
Batman star Ben Affleck has recently been doing press and promotions for his new feature, The Accountant, and he has been the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to the topic of Batman. Affleck had recently confirmed that J.K Simmons who plays Commissioner Gordon in Justice League will reprise his role for the new solo movie and also talked at length about Batman Vs. Superman. The actor dropped another meaty morsel about Deathstroke in his interview with Collider:

“I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with [Batman] well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52, the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work.”

batman-batsuit-ben-affleck
In the New 52 comic book that Affleck mentions, Batman is an older character with a more jaded view on justice. Slade Wilson a.k.a Deathstroke is also older than he is often depicted. And like Affleck said, a good match up for the Caped Crusader. Slade Wilson is an army vet and experimental test subject granted superhuman strength. The New 52 also depicts Deathstroke as a member of several teams which also include Amanda Waller’s Team 7. And with the testy meeting that we last saw Bruce Wayne and Waller having in the last scene of Suicide Squad, who knows if it would also affect the new Batman film.

Deathstroke has become a topic on every DCEU fan’s lips after the confirmation that he would be making his on screen debut. attends Entertainment Weekly's Annual Comic-Con Celebration at Float at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego on July 20, 2013 in San Diego, California.

Zack Snyder just posted a picture that may also indicate a Deathstroke appearance in the new Justice League movie. Actor Joe Manganiello has been confirmed to play the role of Deathstroke for the big screen. The actor seems enthused with his new part as he also posted two picture full of Deathstroke figurines and comic books which he called research. The actor has long been acquainted with the superhero world as he was up for the part of Superman in Man Of Steel. And although Henry Cavill got that part, we are glad that Manganiello didn’t, as it seems like the actor is a perfect fit for the role.

And fans are not the only ones who seem excited to see the actor on screen. Deathstroke creator Marv Wolfman tweeted to the actor to share his excitement and also gave his blessings for the role. Wolfman created the comic book villain with George Perez in 1980. Deathstroke got his first introduction in The New Teen Titans and became a super villain that the Titans had to face.

Deathstroke then got promoted to superhero comics such as Batman and The Justice League.
The old comic book writers of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman were unfortunately not alive to see their creations be made into a movie, but the new crop of writers have been fortunate to witness and also give their blessings for the on-screen personas of their creations. Harley Quinn creator Paul Dini has spoken positively about Margot Robbie’s portrayal and Suicide Squad creator John Ostrander has also done the same. Now its all in the hands of Affleck and Snyder to find out how the mercenary killer will look like on screen.

Batman star Ben Affleck posted a small clip on his Twitter of the mercenary which brought the internet into near pandemonium. With the confirmation of Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello as the titular Deathstroke character, speculations began to arise about what the new film will be about.

batman
Warner Bros. and DCEU have remained relatively quiet about the upcoming film, only confirming that it would be written, executive produced and directed by their Oscar-winning star Affleck. With Justice League to be released next year, sources are speculating that the storyline of the film will be a continuation into its other two potential films-Batman and The Flash.

Joe Manganiello recently posted two pictures on his Twitter. One picture features a dozen or so figurines of Deathstroke which he captioned #research and another picture which features a Deathstroke mask and a stack of comic books about the mercenary villain. He captioned that picture #research2

The pictures may seem like harmless fun to the normal person, but the super fans have put on their detective hats on and made some headway into what the new Batman could be about. Out of all the collection, the one that has caught fans radar is Deathstroke The Terminator that includes the arc, “City of Assassins” by Marv Wolfman and Steve Erwin. In this comic, Batman meets the mercenary for the first time. Deathstroke goes to Gotham to find out who is assassinating the city’s mob bosses.

The story harks back to Batman doing what he does best. Being the best detective in DC comics. Batman: Earth One Vol 2 is also another interesting title that has caught people’s eye. Geoff Johns who wrote the comic could team up with Affleck for a story based on this.

Manu Bennett’s EPIC Reaction to Joe Manganiello Playing Deathstroke

Recently, the news came that Joe Manganiello has been cast to play Slade Wilson/ Deathstroke onscreen in the upcoming Batman solo movie starring Ben Affleck. Manu Bennett who played the character in CW shows Arrow took to twitter and responded by saying “Ok if Joe is playing Deathstroke I’m gonna Magic Mike.” He reacted to a fan’s tweet which had a GIF of Manu Bennett dancing at the comic con panel. Of corse, his female fans will love if he decides to become a male stripper in the movie adaptation of MTV Shannara Chronicles.

But jokes apart, the season 2 of Arrow TV series will continue to be the best ever in the show’s history. And it’s not because of Stephen Amell particularly, instead it’s because of the season villain – Slade Wilson/Deathstroke played by Manu Bennett. He came to Starling city to avenge the death of his girlfriend Shadow as he believed Oliver is responsible for her death as he chose to protect Sara Lance. He brought an entire army of Mira Kuru soldiers to Starling city who took it under their control, assassinated top officials and bribed others (including Mayor). The season was gritty, tense and edgy because of Manu Bennett’s stellar performance.

In the interview with TheMusic.com, Manu Bennett said: “I think Deathstroke had a lot of possibilities with Arrow but, I think they took it in the wrong direction.”

He further added “It took the Justice League to defeat him; it took an army to take him on. In Arrow, it took a while for Oliver [Queen/Arrow] to prove his point, but [season three] was just a beating of Slade, adding insult to injury.”

Manu Bennett Has Found His Successor To Play Deathstroke

In a recent development, Warner Bros. has announced that the True blood fame Joe Manganiello has been cast as Deathstroke for the Untitled Batman Solo project. Since Ben Affleck posted the Deathstroke test footage, there has been an upsurge of unrestrained frenzy among the DC fans. The Batman film which is under pre-production stage has already been reported to be written by DC’s chief creative officer Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck is all set to helm the project as the director.

According to The wall street journal, the test footage actually featured Manganiello as the seasoned terminator in the costume.Geoff johns confirmed this development in a recent interview with the outlet.

Here’s the test footage which Affleck posted previously.

Talking about the comic book history, the character was introduced for the first  time in The New Teen Titans (Vol. 1)#2. Originally created as an arch nemesis to the teen titans, the character development by different writers has made him an adversary to several superheroes at different instances. While being incorporated into the batman mythology as his perfect rival,he is portrayed as a hate monger in the Green arrow universe. The character’s popularity could be judged by the fact that he was rated as the 24th greatest villain of all time by the Wizard Magazine. Moreover, Deathstroke has also been ranked as IGN’s 32nd greatest comic book villain of all time.

deathstroke

While Manu Bannett is know for his ground breaking performance in the TV series as the ruthless mercenary,it would be a challenging task for Manganiello to fill in his shoes. Even though Manu is popular for his portrayal of Deathstroke, the fanbase was miffed with certain aspects of the character. The most looked down point was his drive for killing being triggered by the death of his love interest wherein Mira kuru (a chemical compound) acted as the catalyst. Adding up to the disappointment was the substandard costume as an outcome of budget constraint. There is no doubt that the character’s costume for the batman movie would be appealing as it is evident in the test  footage. With all the sustained efforts by the DC creative team,it is necessary for the camp to develop this character in a way that it does not resemble its TV counterpart, known for his vicious gameplay with emotional undertones.

5 Reasons Why Deathstroke Is The Perfect Villain For The New Batman Movie

There have been many villains depicted as the arch nemesis of Batman in his movie avatar. Villains have included everyone from The Joker, The Penguin, Catwoman, Bane, The Riddler, Two-Face and Ra’s al Ghul to name a few. With the confirmation from DCEU, Deathstroke joins that long list and clearly, he is the perfect villain for this older, rougher Batman. Here are five points as to why that is:

Deathstroke Is A Realistic Villain But Still Fits Into DCEU

fbb3c3e3e166cf65abcbefbd4ad20205

After fighting a literal alien by the name of Superman in Batman Vs Superman, it would seem like a downer to see the Batman face petty criminals. But a super soldier who both has super strength, smarts and a heightened sense false of righteous morality would be an interesting enemy for our hero to beat.

Deathstroke Is An Assasin For Hire

Deathstroke batman

Unlike other villains, Deathstroke is a hired assassin which means that he won’t be anywhere unless someone told him to be there and to kill unless he’s been hired to kill. Wilson doesn’t let his agendas rule his profession. So that just leads one to wonder- who would hire Deathstroke? And will this entail further movies of the caped crusader solving that mystery?

Blast From The Past: A Major Character Returns To Star City

Last week, we learned that Deathstroke will be the main villain in the new Batman movie courtesy of one Ben Affleck who posted a small clip on Twitter and had an entire fandom gasping and cheering for the new onscreen character. But this was not the first time that Deathstroke had been seen. Deathstroke, played by Manu Bennett was seen in the first two seasons of Arrow and was suddenly killed off along with Amanda Waller before Suicide Squad was released. Back in February, Arrow exec producer Marc Guggenheim was quoted as saying that Deathstroke’s death in Arrow was due to being ” tied up in another DC project.”

deathstroke

Stephen Amell, who recently attended Salt Lake Comic-Con addressed Deathstroke’s sudden demise in Arrow as well a comeback (maybe) for the fan-favorite on the show:

“That’s actually something that people bring up on a regular basis…that DC has told us you can’t have or you must get rid of [this character]. That’s not how that works. Diane Nelson and Geoff Johns – the people at Warner Bros. on the feature side, the people at Warner Bros. on the television side – are all in the business of making the best products for fans. Just because there may or may not be a Deathstroke in the DC Extended Universe doesn’t mean Manu Bennett can’t exist on our show.”

Arrow-Cast

Amell, as you can see states the very shaky ground that DCEU has created. The clean separation that the studio has made between its film and television division has often gotten fans riled up. The Flash is a clear example of this. As the CW runs a very successful series, many fans were shocked and angered when DCEU cast Ezra Miller for Justice League and a standalone Flash film. Hopefully, the studio comes to reach a certain level that fans expect both in its movie and television division, and we see our favorite characters from the small screen to big screen and vice versa.

Will Joe Manganiello Play Deathstroke In New Batman Movie?

Ben Affleck posted a short clip of Deathstroke on Twitter this past monday, which was later confirmed to be the main villain in the upcoming Batman film. Now the Internet has gone a buzz about who the actor is underneath the mask. Deathstroke

Internet sleuths have been tracing the dots and come to the conclusion that the Magic Mike actor Joe Manganiello is playing Deathstroke. Evidence of this statement points to Manganiello just following Zac Snyder on Twitter which seems a on the wispy side, until you take into account that the actor is currently in London where the Justice League movie is also currently being filmed. Manganeillo retweeted a picture of him and his True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer and his wife, Modern Family star Sofia Vergara. Fans have also taken into account that Joe Manganeillo is a dead ringer for Australian actor Manu Bennett, who recently played a very popular version of the character on the CW show Arrow.

Joe-Manganiello-as-Deathstroke-thumbnail

Manganeillo had been rumoured before to be up for the part but for the Suicide Squad movie. Now it seems that the supposed rumour may have been for the new Batman film instead. As of now, there is nothing but speculations to whether or not it could be true. Forbes reporter Mark Hughes writes a distinctive theory on this rumour:

“Maybe today’s footage was Affleck screen-testing Manganiello (or someone else, if that’s not really Manganiello under the mask — it could be a stuntman, after all) for the role. Maybe it was filmed as a post-credit scene in Justice League. Maybe Deathstroke appears in a small role in Justice League, to set up his character for the solo Batman movie — Affleck and Geoff Johns, who co-wrote the screenplay for The Batman, made certain changes to the Justice League script specifically to build up to the solo Batman movie. Or maybe Affleck shot a few scenes for The Batman while they had the sets and costumes in place.”

Recently, when the episode focused on Shadowspire activities, Slade Wilson fans claimed that this might be the sign of bringing Deathstroke back in the next season. He is currently shooting “The Shannara Chronicles” for MTV.
