Facts About Deathstroke Deadliest DC Villain:
Deathstroke is one of the most loved Supervillains in the entire comic book universe even though he is the most ruthless killer in the entire DC universe. The Mercenary has the ability to defeat any superhero on any given day and we hope, one day we’ll see him on the big screen fighting the Justice League.
#1: Creation and Debut
Deathstroke was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, and he was introduced as “Deathstroke the Terminator” as a villain for the Teen Titans and his first appearance was in the comic book The New Teen Titans #2 back in December 1980. He became popular almost instantaneously and the fans loved him even though he was a villain. He got so popular that he got his own series in 1991 named Deathstroke the Terminator.
#2: His origin is (somewhat) similar to Captain America
Slade Wilson or Deathstroke lied about his age to enter the U.S. Army, he was only 16 at the time. As a part of a super-secret military program, an officer offered him a chance to enhance his abilities by giving him a Super Serum. Slade was hungry for power so he could not say no, without caring about the side effects. That is how he got his superhuman strength.
#3: His wife shot him in the eye
Slade’s family had no idea about his other life as a Super assassin and Slade intended to keep it this way but he ultimately failed. A criminal named Jackal kidnapped his son Joseph to lure out Deathstroke and to kill him. In the end, Deathstroke did manage to kill all the kidnappers and save his son, but Joseph’s throat was slashed by one of the criminals, rendering Joseph mute. When Slade’s wife came to know about all this, she shot Slade in the eye in rage.
#4: One of the most skilled Combatants in DC
Deathstroke is an expert tactician who is known to think 10 steps ahead of his enemies. He is a master marksman, swordsman, and hand to hand combatant. He is an expert in Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Bojutsu, Boxing, Jojutsu, Judo, Jujitsu, Karate, and Ninjutsu. On top of that, he has Superhuman strength, agility, stamina, and durability and an excellent Regenerative Healing Factor.
#5: His wife went Insane
As you all know Slade was injected with a Super Serum which gave him the ability of Physical Regeneration, allowing him to survive as long as his brain is intact. When his wife was fighting for her life, Slade gave her his blood to save her life. But it all turned out tragic as she gained a similar regenerative healing factor which made her immortal. Her DNA was altered due to this and it drove her insane.
#6: He can use 90% of his brain
Deathstroke is a master combatant, but he is more famous for his mental capacity. Even though he is one of the strongest fighters in the DC universe, people fear him for his strategy formulation. Due to the serum, he gained access to 90% of his brain, making him one of the smartest humans. He can speak many different languages and he can formulate strategies nine times faster than his enemies.
#7: He once tried to kill a young Bruce Wayne
In the Storyline, “Superman: American Alien”, Deathstroke was hired by Falcone to assassinate a young Bruce Wayne at a yacht party. However, he mistook a young Clark Kent for Bruce and was surprised when the neurotoxin he put in Clark’s drink just made him dizzy. He even tried cutting him with his sword, but the sword broke instantly and Clark just had to flick him off the yacht to win.
#8: His Sword was made by God to kill other Gods
Deathstroke’s sword “The God Killer”, was crafted by the Greek God of Blacksmiths and Metalworking, Hephaestus to kill his enemies. The sword could discharge vorpal shock-waves and redirect whatever force is met with and the primordial energy within it enabled it to shapeshift into a Bo staff, Twin Swords, etc. The sword could even be summoned by its owner via a mental link.
#9: He gave Batman a spectacular beating
In the City of Assassins’ story arc, Deathstroke was attacked by Batman, to stop him. Deathstroke then gave Batman one of his all-time worst beatings. Batman is, well Batman, but Deathstroke had all the skills of Batman plus the super-serum in him. He left Batman unconscious as he didn’t think Batman was a threat to care about.
#10: The World’s Deadliest Assassin
In Deathstroke: Gods of War, it was mentioned that Deathstroke never failed during his entire ‘career’ as an assassin. He had over 600 confirmed kills and even though the FBI and the CIA knew about his identity, they couldn’t do anything. Deathstroke first analyzed all his contracts thoroughly and only then he picked his contracts.
