12 DC Characters That Should Get Their Own Films

We’ve got several DC movies and TV shows coming out in the next few years. Along with familiar projects like The Suicide Squad, Black Adam, The Batman, Shazam! 2, and The Flash, we’re also going to Batgirl, Blue Beetle, Zatanna, Constantine, Static Shock, and possibly a Nightwing movie. But there are other characters who should get solo films. Now that HBO Max is also set to come up with multiple exclusive DC movies, here’s a list of all DC characters that should get their own films:

DC Characters That Should Get Their Own Films

Supergirl

A Supergirl movie was initially in the works, but it has since been put on hold. Well, I’d say that WB should get back at that project soon enough. The Supergirl series is coming to an end later this year. So, we’d love to watch a big-budget Supergirl movie after that. Maybe she could get introduced in Man of Steel 2, and then go on to do her own thing. This move would kill two birds with one stone.

Batman Beyond

Ever since Michael Keaton’s return as Bruce Wayne has been announced, people have wanted a Batman Beyond movie. It should definitely happen on Keaton’s Earth-89. Once Keaton mentors Barry Allen in The Flash, he should return to his Earth and guide Terry McGinnis. An older Bruce Wayne guiding Batman in a futuristic setting is exactly what we need. So hopefully, a Batman Beyond movie will happen.

Clayface

DC characters that should get their own films

He could work well in a grounded film where he walks around shapeshifting into certain individuals. But If Warner Bros. decides to back it up with a substantial budget, then we could actually get a Clayface that turns into a big CGI monstrosity every now and then. Just imagine if a director decides to give it a horror spin. That could be stunning.

Mr. Freeze

We always criticize the way Mr. Freeze was handled in Batman and Robin. But we have to keep in mind that Arnold delivered exactly what he was asked to. His take was pretty cool. But in general, Mr. Freeze is nothing like the icy pun-making character we saw in 1997. Dr. Victor Fries is a very layered character who just wants to save his wife. So, his story could be quite chilling, and emotionally compelling. You see what I did there? 😛

Two-Face

Joker turned out to be a successful venture. And just like that, a familiar actor could be brought in to play Harvey Dent. Aaron Eckhart showed us how amazingly complex, Harvey Dent could turn out to be. So, just imagine if someone brings their creative ability to come up with a good script around Two-Face. Again, there’s no need to add Batman into the mix. Two-Face could hold a strong and gritty movie on HBO Max.

Cyborg

Things haven’t been great between Ray Fisher and Warner Bros. In fact, Fisher has even claimed that he won’t work with Walter Hamada. So, it’s highly unlikely that the originally planned solo Cyborg movie will ever happen. But that really shouldn’t be the case. Once Cyborg proves to be a major character in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, WB should resolve things with Fisher. That way, we could get a solo Cyborg movie for sure.

Booster Gold & Blue Beetle

DC characters that should get their own films

People have been clamoring for a funny and flamboyant Booster Gold movie. But WB might not be sure if Booster Gold could hold his film alone. So, to make it more enticing, Blue Beetle could definitely be added into the mix. In many ways, he is even cooler than Cyborg. So, a Blue Beetle and Booster Gold team-up flick does sound awesome, don’t you think? But it seems that they are planning to give us a solo Blue Beetle film on HBO Max.

Lobo

Michael Bay was supposed to direct a $200 million Lobo movie. But that project never got off the ground. Still, it doesn’t mean that a Lobo movie shouldn’t happen. He is a bounty hunter who could take us on some crazy cosmic adventure. He could be Deadpool but in space! So, it’d be awesome if Warner Bros. fast tracks a Lobo film in the future.

Plastic Man

While Marvel comes up with a Fantastic Four movie, DC could counter that with a Plastic Man project. Just imagine Joseph Gordon Levitt stretching his arms and legs around to hold this film together. Plastic Man has the potential to be extremely humorous. So, will someone please make it happen already?!

Deathstroke

Gareth Evans was supposed to come up with a Deathstroke origins film with Joe Manganiello. But that project got canceled. Manganiello revealed that several stories pitched were to him. He even started training for the part, but suddenly The Batman got canceled. And around that time, his solo movie was also pushed aside. After the Snyder Cut, it should get revived. We’d love to watch Manganiello’s Deathstroke go through his brutal origin story.

Martian Manhunter

J’onn J’onzz should get a solo film that’s based on his planet. It’d be thrilling to see how his race perished on Mars. The war with the white Martians would be something that the story could follow with Harry Lennix in the lead.

Lex Luthor

Just like Joker, a Lex Luthor solo movie may not need Superman. It could happen in a grounded setting, and turn out to be a political thriller. Instead of Superman, Lois Lane could be the person that goes against Luthor in some capacity. And ultimately, we’d get to see President Luthor!

What do you think about this Lex Luthor pitch, and all the potential DC projects that we’ve mentioned? Do you think that these are the DC Characters that should get their own films? Let us know in the comments.
