The Infinity Stones have been a major part of the Infinity Saga. Did you notice that Marvel introduced 2 Infinity Stones in ever new Phase? It’s good that they didn’t rush those gems into their long drawn narrative. In fact, it came as a surprise when the Scepter & the Tesseract were revealed to be carriers of Infinity Stones. That’s because the Tesseract is inspired by the Cosmic Cube from the comics. So, Marvel made a good change by turning familiar powerful objects of the comics into Infinity Stones.
While we were able to figure out about the presence of Infinity Stones in Guardians of the Galaxy, it took Tony Stark much longer to become aware of their presence. It wasn’t until Avengers: Age of Ultron that he was able to figure out about their existence. This new information comes from Marvel’s new MCU tie-in book, “The Wakanda Files A Technological Exploration of the Avengers and Beyond” has revealed an ocean of new details, and cleared quite a lot of MCU related mysteries.
So far, we’ve already talked about how Tony spotted Peter Parker, how he attained nanoparticles, why he developed the Iron Spider suit, a tease of the X-Gene, Bucky’s ties to the Tesseract, Peter Parker’s web fluid formula, Shuri’s attempts to manually synthesize the Heart shaped Herb, Janet’s new powers, Wakanda’s investigation upon the murder of Howard Stark, how the Super Soldier serum worked on Cap’s body, why Rhodey switched from War Machine to the Iron Patriot armor, Hydra’s experimentation upon Bucky’s brain and many other intricate details. Now, we’re going to talk about one of the pieces of information that was retrieved from Tony’s logs.
In his logs, Tony talked about how the events of Age of Ultron took place because of him. He regretted creating the Ultron program. He admits that he should have tried to create Vision instead. The log stated:
“I suggested we implement JARVIS’s recovered code into the vibranium-generated tissue fused with the Mind Stone. It’s what I should have done in the first place. The world doesn’t need Ultron. It needs a supercharged JARVIS. Worst-case scenario, it fails. Right?”
The log further mentioned that Tony found out about Infinity Stones when Thor told him about them. Tony wrote:
“Hold up. I’m really burying the lead here. Thor mentioned six ‘Infinity Stones’ at the center of a whirlpool that was the destruction of Earth. And one of them is apparently bedazzling the forehead of Vision. Can we talk about that for a second? Infinity Stones?”
It’s interesting that Tony didn’t start to look for these Infinity Stones just like Thor did. Thor couldn’t find out anything about the stones for the next two years. Maybe Tony would have at least found out about the Time Stone, which was on Earth, with Doctor Strange. But we can’t really blame him as he was otherwise occupied in trying to make the world a better place.
Anyway, the Infinity Stones are gone now. Thanos reduced them to atoms. But, there are certain ways in which the stones can be brought back. The multiverse for instance is one way. Loki is out there causing chaos with the Tesseract. Maybe he will be after more Infinity Stones. We’ll have to wait and see about that.
Till then, here’s how the of the future slate of MCU looks – WandaVision is set to arrive on Disney+ in 2020. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is confirmed for 2021 and it could arrive in Spring.
