This last week has been nothing but Avengers: Endgame and its big success. This film has literally killed the Box Office potential of every other film, and it actually made way for Captain Marvel to do well domestically as well as worldwide. Avengers: Endgame has been a major factor in Captain Marvel’s success because the female-led Superhero movie led right into the plot of the big finale. So, not only did people go on to watch that film in large numbers over the last month, but they are still doing that.
Just like Avengers: Endgame has allowed Captain Marvel to breathe in and make a major impact upon the Box Office, it will also allow other female characters to step in along with her for their own team-up film. The final fight of the film gave us a whole lot. The first 2 acts of the film were all about setting up the final fight, and then the 3rd act just capitalized upon that in the grandest fashion you could ever imagine. Marvel brought everything they had in their arsenal against their biggest baddest villain, and it was all just phenomenal.
This was a film that pleased every fanboy that went in to watch the film with high hopes. There was this immense amount of fan service, but more than that, there were some really amazing future setups. Infinity War and Endgame collectively set up WandaVision for Disney+, then there was the Falcon & Winter Soldier set up, Hawkeye solo, Loki solo, probably another Captain America story, a shout out to Captain Britain, Young Avengers set up, a tease for the Black Widow solo plot, and finally a female team up movie.
What Avengers: Endgame did so well was give the spotlight to almost every Avenger during the final battle sequence. Falcon got a cool moment, Bucky, Rocket, Wanda had a jaw-dropping fight with Thanos, Doctor Strange, Black Panther was so fluent & precise, Spider-Man showed us the Instant Kill mode, Cap & Thor fought with their hammers, Giant Man sucker punched a freakin’ Leviathan, Drax drilled Cull Obsidian, Valkyrie flew in with the Pegasus, Pepper came in for (with) the RESCUE, Captain Marvel stunned Thanos and finally Tony snapped!
It was just so magnificent on all fronts. Perhaps Groot, Rhodey and the Hulk could have had one of their own moments as well, but let’s not complain. Amidst the massive war, Marvel very smartly served the fans by giving us a few seconds of an All-female team up. Tessa Thompson and Evangeline Lilly have teased talking about an A-Force movie with Kevin Feige, and the Russos just tested the waters for that.
That A-Force moment was really one of the greatest moments of the entire fight, and from that, it is more or less a given that the females will reunite at least once more in a future MCU movie. The writing’s on the wall, and with the whole diversification moment currently running in the MCU, an A-Force movie is definitely a given. The only sad part about it is that Black Widow will not be there to lead the team! But it is what it is. Her sacrifice was big and definitely needed. Now let’s see what happens.
