Attack on Titan- Best Fan-Based Theories That Will Have You Rethinking Everything

Attack on Titan, a single show that can make you jump and lose all your cool and control, sure has managed to make us wrap our heads around all the possibilities and crazy things that can happen in the ultimate and final season. Making it extremely difficult for us to maintain our ground, the show truly has shown us some incredible plot twists and moves.

Starting off with the concept of survival of the fittest or rather the human race against the indestructible titan giants, the show has evidently grown with its earth-shattering unraveling of the past and true nature and identity of not only titans but also the human race and what lies beyond the walls. With so much being told and much more to yet be deciphered, the fans have managed to add up their own spice to the show by opening up their minds about possible outcomes to us all. Although the journey till here was full of fear, heartbreak, determination, and trust, the one that lies ahead is gonna need much more than that more possibly everything! So here are some crazy fan-based theories that might answer some of our questions or may ignite the light for some new questions themselves.

 1. Annie, The Female Titan

Turning into a female titan to catch Eren, and ended up being caught up in the process of that leading to an ultimate face-off with Eren himself, Annie has sure come a great way, although the thing that bugged us the most was her total absence after her crystalization. It has been made obvious that Annie has a deeper past than what we have imagined, which is yet to be resolved, of course after she has de-crystalized herself from that ice cocoon. Keeping in mind what has happened till now it is a possibility that she was forced by her father or others to join the titan league and turn her back towards mankind as she has evidently shown to have moments of weakness and hesitation quite often. The fans also believe that Annie has trapped herself in that ice cocoon to bid some time and energy for the ultimate combat in the near future where she might side with the survey corps and not the beast titan out of anger and revenge for what they did to her and her friends.

 2. The Wall Titans

From the moment we first witnessed the titans that lay inside the walls we all have known that they will attack one side of the population, the question is would that side be inside the walls or outside? The titans that could be about 50 meters high trapped inside the walls by the first king to save the people of Ymir from Marleyans could come in handy in the battleground. Believing that Eren and the others now know the full truth about the colossal titans inside the wall and what lies ahead of them, there is a great possibility that Eren might use these titans against the Marleyans to win the battle. Even though Marley has been shown as a great developed city on its own the chances of their winning is trim if Eren learns to control and unleash the titans residing in the wall.

 3. The China-Japan portrayal

There has been some who think that Marley and Eldia are animated description of long and complicated relation of China and Japan. It has been shown that the two nations share some kind of a hateful relation with each other. Marley was once a powerful nation with impeccable growth and development till all their power was overruled by Eldian’s titan power, thus staring the point of growing differentiation. Marley also believed that Eldians are highly destructive and think extremely highly of themselves keeping in mind their titan ability. However, this differentiation was bought to an end or at least was attempted to by the 145th king by building the walls and paradise. The memories of those within the walls were wiped out making them believe that they were the lasts of mankind. The series being the point of view of Japan depicts Eldians as Japanese themselves and Marleyans, who still hate Eldians for the actions of their ancestors are shown as Chinese, portraying anti-Japanese sentiments in China.

 4. Armin is the narrator of the series

The series surely has an interesting way of depicting things and incidents there is no doubt in that, and one such thing that increases the enigma of the show to some extent is the narration in the background. The voice is clearly filled with a sense of pain and somewhat defeat sometimes showing that war and bloodshed only bring pain and sorrow as there are only survivors and no winners in such a gruesome act. Although the fact that caught our attention apart from this is that the Japanese and English dubbing artist for the role of Armin are also the very narrator of the show, thus opening the possibility of Armin being the narrator of what has happened to them in the past and what lead to all the death and destruction and opening of the new world for others. To further support the dubbing artist fact in one of the episodes Sadie ask Armin a question to which the narrator responds, “I couldn’t answer it”.  So it can be kept in mind as a possibility that the future generation is reading Armin’s work as a part of literature to what the heroes of the past did to ensure the future’s freedom.

 5. A re-enactment of WW II

Some fans have compared the series with the events of World War-II saying that it’s the re-creation of the events of the past. By comparing the titans with Americans and the human race with Japanese the series has very carefully depicted the possible scenarios from the past. The fans have very passionately found the possible similarities between the two events like some of the names in the series are German and the introductory songs are in German too. The titans in the wall show that the walls have ears too and the titans (Americans) are always one step ahead of the human race (Japanese). The series also shows a one sided battle against the enemy who is unknown which was pretty much the case with Americans as well, and the massive death and destruction bought up by the titans are constantly compared by the nuclear attacks and heavy weapons used by the Americans to bring Japan to its much-fated defeat.

 6. Eren Yeager and Eren Krueger

We all know that there is some possible relation between Eren Krueger and Eren Yeager since both possessed attack titan’s form and Eren Krueger mentioned Armin and Mikasa but when asked about them, they were unknown to him, but what fans have offered as a possible outcome is that they both are same person. The concept of time travel isn’t new to any of us, although the possibility of it happening in this series is unknown. Fans have concluded that Eren went back in past to warn his father about the mishappenings in the future or some vital information about the titans so that he does not make the same mistakes. People have also said that maybe Yeager is the reincarnation of Eren Krueger as both have some physical resemblance.

 7. Mikasa will survive

By the end of season 3, it was made known to us that the life span of those who embodied the founding titan’s form is just 13 years. With this fact known it was made pretty much obvious that Eren And later Armin might not make it to the end as both of them have a clock ticking if not the whole battle behind the walls. With these facts known it is possible that Mikasa might end up being the only survivor among the main trio. The chances of this happening are pretty strong unless they find some magical way of surviving their prewritten fate.
