Marvel Ultimate Fight: Gladiator vs. Hyperion vs. The Sentry – Who Wins This Fight

Gladiator vs Hyperion vs The Sentry:

Marvel has several powerful powerhouses. Over the years, they have tried their hands at trying to emulate the greatest success of their rival comic book publication – yes we are talking about Superman of DC Comics. And a few too many times, Marvel Comics has come pretty close at trying to come up with something or someone who would be a match. The champions for today’s fight are Gladiator of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard, Hyperion of Squadron Supreme, and Sentry of Earth. What happens when these three heavyweights decide to duke it out?

Gladiator vs Hyperion vs The Sentry

If imitation truly is the sincerest form of flattery, then these three powerhouses are going to have to fight for the second most powerful being in any comic book universe. Let us be honest for a second here. If we add Superman into the mix, then there is a high possibility that nobody other than the Man of Steel gets out of this soup alive. But what if for some wild reason that none of are unaware of, Gladiator, Sentry, and Hyperion realize that the only road to victory is over the dead bodies of the other two titans. We do not know about you but we would pay to watch that fight!

Gladiator:

Kallark is the Greatest Warrior of the Shi’ar Imperial Guard. He is the most powerful asset of the Shi’ar Empire as well. Kallark possesses abilities that are pretty similar to Superman. He can fly. He can shoot powerful energy blasts and survive unaided in space. Gladiator also has superhuman strength, durability, speed, endurance, and reflexes. Kallark even has a name that sounds pretty similar to Superman’s. His name is an analogy of Superman’s two real-world names – Kal-El and Clark Kent. Gladiator is a foe even the Avengers think twice before crossing paths with. Throughout the years, Gladiator has fought some truly powerful heavyweights like the Incredible Hulk and the Thing of the Fantastic Four.

Gladiator vs Hyperion vs The Sentry

Gladiator’s strength is tied down to his confidence in his abilities. The more he believes in himself, the stronger he becomes in due course of time of the battle. He once fought the Fantastic Four. He lifted the entire Baxter Building with his bare hands. But before he did that he made short work of the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and The Thing. The only reason he was defeated was that Reed Richards used a force field generator of his design to withstand Gladiator’s punches.

That way, he tricked him into thinking that Gladiator was not strong enough and as a result, his self-confidence in his abilities went down. That was enough for the Fantastic Four, who then defeated the Gladiator shortly afterward. So it might look like Kallark’s confidence-boosting powers may not have an upper limit, but he can be easily tricked into submission.

The Sentry

Dark Avengers MCU

Robert Reynolds was a normal middle-aged man who was dealing with obesity and a mid-life crisis. Then suddenly he starts getting flashbacks of a secretive past life he had as a superhero called the Sentry. The Sentry once used to be Earth’s most powerful defender. He was the reason many of the other superheroes of the Marvel Comic book superheroes started their career as crime fighters. But for some reason, nobody knew his name. Even Robert Reynolds was surprised that he had not remembered anything like this for such a long time.

Sentry Marvel Cinematic Universe

It is then that the actual reason for the world not remembering the Sentry is revealed. The serum that gave the Sentry the power of a million exploding suns had a terrible side effect. The serum had also affected the Sentry mentally. It had fractured his psyche to the extent that Robert Reynolds developed a split personality disorder. One part of his psyche was the benevolent and good-natured Sentry. The other part of his psyche was the evil and malevolent Void. The Sentry’s powers include the power to fire powerful energy bolts, travel at light speed, survive without food, water, or air in space for indefinite periods as well as multiple superhuman physical attributes like super strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, stamina, and agility. The Void’s powers were even greater.

The Void had the power to alter the very fabric of reality. The more the Sentry tapped into his powers, the more chances the Void had of taking over his body. As a result, the Sentry used his powers to make the world forget, including himself, of his existence.

Hyperion

Hyperion had multiple versions in the Marvel Comic book Universe. There are multiple iterations of Hyperion all over the Multi-Verse. First debuting in Avengers #85, Hyperion was supposed to be the answer to DC Comics’ Superman. Like we said, several versions of the character exist. We will take into consideration the Hyperion of Earth – 712. The Hyperion of Earth 712 was not an alien but rather his universe’s most powerful Eternal, a subset of humanity that were experimented upon by the Celestials who later gained the ability to access and manipulate the Power Cosmic.

Gladiator vs Hyperion vs The Sentry

Just like Superman, Hyperion has one weakness – Argonite. Like Kryptonite makes Superman susceptible to damage, Argonite does the trick for Hyperion. He is the leader of the Squadron Supreme, an analog of the Justice League created by Marvel Comics for the Avengers to fight against so that Marvel could have their cake and eat it too. Hyperion is also vulnerable to telepathy and mind control. Hyperion’s many feats include stopping an entire planet from hurtling towards the sun with his bare hands, being sandwiched between tow planetoids and living to tell the tale, and even keep two universes from colliding with each other. Hyperion has even taken point-blank hits from Thor’s Mjolnir and the Hulk and managed to defeat them both on several occasions.

The Victor:

Gladiator vs Hyperion vs The Sentry

After careful observation, we have come to a single conclusion. No matter what the scenario is, the only being that gets out of this thing alive and victorious is Robert Reynolds aka the Sentry. With a vast array of abilities that border on a baseline God-like power, Gladiator and Hyperion do not stand a chance. The moment the Sentry realizes he is about to die, the Void will take over and end the fight then and there. There is just no way Gladiator or Hyperion could win this one. The Void is known to use mind control and his telepathic abilities. That is a huge weakness in Hyperion’s part. Gladiator is only as strong as he believes himself to be. The moment he realizes his punches are not affecting the Sentry/the Void, he will start doubting himself. The Sentry will make short work of both. He takes the cake fair and square.
