Facts About Nick Fury: Who Created The Avengers-
Nick Fury is one of the most important characters in the entire Marvel Universe as he is the one who keeps all the Mighty superheroes in check and he is the face of the secret organization named S.H.I.E.L.D., which is in charge of protecting the Earth from evil entities.
#1: Creation and Debut
Nicholas Joseph Fury was created as a Caucasian character by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee and he made his first appearance back in May 1963 from the comic Howling Commandos #1. The modern-day Fury initially started as a CIA agent and debuted a few months later in Fantastic Four #21. In Strange Tales #135 (August 1965), they transformed the character into a spy just like James Bond.
#2: Origin and History
Nick Fury was born and brought up in Hell’s Kitchen, New York along with his two siblings. His father enlisted in the United Kingdom’s Royal Flying Corps during World War 1, which ultimately motivated him to join the army as well. As a teenager in 1937, he finally went overseas for the first time to fight with the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War.
#3: A Seasoned unarmed and armed Combat expert
In the MCU, Nick Fury is known for his cunning strategies, but not for his combat abilities. In the comics, he was a Heavyweight Boxer in the army (during World War 2), and he held a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu. He honed his skills by training with Captain America. He is a combat veteran of three wars – World War 2, The Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
#4: He is more than 100 years old in the comics
In Comic Books, it is revealed that Nick Fury takes a special medication called the Infinity Formula that halts his aging process and even allows him to be active despite being nearly a century old. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has not tinkered with this concept, yet. Hopefully, they’ll incorporate this into the upcoming phases.
#5: He contains an army of Robot Clones
Nick Fury is far more influential in comic books than he is in the cinematic universe. He has control over an entire robotic army which can be modeled after any character’s image and they can be used as decoys. The MCU has not even mentioned this aspect once.
#6: Discovered that S.H.I.E.L.D. was compromised
Nick Fury was the second commander of S.H.I.E.L.D. as its Public Director after working for years. After taking the position, he discovered that S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra have both fallen under the control of a group of sentient Life Model Decoy androids known as Deltites. He was eventually able to foil their plans with the help of the heroes.
#7: He has been “Killed” several times in the comics
Nick Fury is a very influential man in the comics which makes him a high-priority target. When Punisher was captured and sent to S.H.I.E.L.D., a character named Spook conditioned Punisher’s mind to believe that his family was killed by Fury. An escaped Punisher ultimately kills Fury, but as it turns out, it was one of Fury’s Highly advanced Life Model Decoy android and not the actual Fury. He was once beheaded by the Winter Soldier and shot in the head by Osborn, and both the times it was an LMD android.
#8: 33rd Degree S.H.I.E.L.D. Officer
Nick Fury is the only 33rd Degree officer in the S.H.I.E.L.D., meaning that he is the only member of the entire organization, present or past, to know about the existence of 28 emergency and covert bases of the organization, scattered all across the globe.
#9: He made Thor Unworthy with a whisper
Nick Fury has even defeated Gods in the Marvel universe. During the Original Sin storyline, Fury gets into a fight with some of the heroes due to a misunderstanding, and so he had to fight them off to save his life. He revealed an undisclosed secret to Thor that caused him to lose the ability to wield his hammer. It’s later revealed that the secret was – “Gorr was right”, which is a reference to how Gorr, The God-Butcher believed that no Gods were worthy of worship.
#10: The Original Nick Fury retired in 2012
Marvel completely retired the original Nick Fury back in 2012. They revealed that Nick Fury had a secret African American kid, originally named Marcus Johnson, who later went on to become the next Nick Fury. He looked a lot more like Samuel L. Jackson who plays the part in the MCU.
