10 Most Powerful Female Avengers – Ranked
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has only a handful of the superheroes. In truth, the Marvel Comic book Universe is too vast for the movies to actually project in a similar magnitude. Even if you give them two decades instead of one, Marvel Studios will still fall short. That is exactly why these Female Superheroes never made the cut. But rest assured they are coming! With Marvel Cinematic Universe set to open a whole new chapter for its superheroes, it is important that the Movies start providing some diversity in its cast. With a lot of super strong, super smart and super-fast, it is about time the fans got to know about the unsung female heroes that are as equally strong or even stronger than the flagship superheroes of Marvel. Presenting – 10 Most Powerful Female Avengers – Ranked!!
10. Black Widow
That’s right. The Most popular Female Avenger is at the bottom of the list. Black Widow is a super assassin and has expertise in espionage. She is also an incredibly talented interrogator. With only her skills, she has managed to become an Avenger. Her close quarter combat skills are second to none in the MCU and she is known to be extremely proficient in firearms. What makes Black Widow so extremely dangerous is her ability to punch way above her weight. Natasha Romanoff was a Russian experiment to replicate the Super Soldier experiment that gave Captain America his powers. She has gone on to become one of the toughest women ever to become an Avenger.
9. Jessica Jones
Jessica Jones never considered herself s superhero. When she tried to don the cape and the cowl, she called herself Jewel. At another point of time, she also went by the name Knightress. Jessica Jones’s powers include super strength and flight (although many would say that she is just really, really good at jumping from one building to another). Jessica Jones has good powers of deduction and has used her background as a Private Investigator to get out of tricky situations. We included her on this list because she is known to be extremely resourceful and has the weird skill to turn almost any unfavourable situation to her advantage.
8. The Wasp
Janet Van Dyne was the first ever Wasp and also one of the five founding members of the Avengers in the comic books. Janet is mostly associated with Ant-Man aka Hank Pym. But she is a truly capable superhero all by herself. She has the ability to shrink down to atomic proportions and even enlarge her body to gigantic sizes. Her suit allows her to fly and shoot bio-sting blasts that can break open a concrete wall. She has also led the Avengers several times and is a competent tactician. The Wasp is also a woman known to have a strong moral code and always does the right thing no matter the cost, which is why she has such a huge fan base.
7. Valkyrie
Valkyrie’s real name is Brunnhilde. She is an Asgardian Warrior Goddess who is responsible for ferrying the souls of the soldiers who died in the battlefield to Valhalla. Valkyire has never been a part of the mainstream Avengers. She is a well-known member of the Secret Avengers. Valkyrie’s close quarter combat skills are perhaps the best in all of Asgard. She is second only to Lady Sif when it comes to trading fists and swinging swords. As she is a Valkyrie, she is obviously very good at Horse-back riding and can sense when people are about to die. Apart from having the typical Asgardian super-human physical attributes, she has a healing factor extraordinarily quicker than most of her people.
6. Arachne
Arachne is one of the many spider themed heroes of Marvel Comics. Her actual name is Julia Carpenter and Arachne is only one of her many aliases. She has also been referred to as Spider Woman and even Madame Web in other comic book arcs. Julia Carpenter has superhuman physical attributes of strength, speed, agility and reflexes. She also has superhuman durability and has psionic powers. Another interesting power that makes Arachne so formidable is her accelerated healing factor.
5. Storm
Ororo Munroe aka Storm of the X-Men is a mutant. So what is she doing on this list? The thing is – almost every X-Man, well at least the popular ones anyways, have been a part of the Avengers at some point of time or another. That also extends to Storm. She is an Omega Level Mutant (mutants are rated according to the threat level of their abilities, Omega being the greatest). She has the ability to control the weather to produce a variety of effects. As an Avenger, Storm has saved the lives of his fellow team members thousands of times.
4. Spectrum
Monica Rambeau got her powers after being exposed to mysterious radiation emanating from an alien energy source. She would then gain the ability to transform into any form of energy within the electromagnetic spectrum. Her unique powers give her a range of abilities. She can travel at the speed of light, fly unaided in space in her energy form and has even achieved immortality thanks to her super powers. Monica Rambeau is most popularly known as Spectrum but she has also been referred to by other aliases like Photon, Pulsar, and Daystar. She once took over the mantle of Captain Marvel as well.
3. Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers gained the ability to absorb and manipulate near limitless amounts of energy thanks to her powers. Like Monica Rambeau, she too gained powers after being exposed to an alien energy source. Carol Danvers has shown the ability to fly and has super strength. She is also well adept at projecting concussive energy blasts. In her binary form, Carol has defeated entire alien armadas. She is not an Avenger any villain in the Marvel Comics Universe would like to mess with. Over the years, Carol Danvers has gone by many names – Warbird, Binary and Ms Marvel are just to name a few. Captain Marvel has become the leader of the Avengers multiple times as well. Right now, she serves the Avengers as a fellow team member under the leadership of T’Challa aka Black Panther in the comics.
2. Thor
Wait what? How is Thor on this list? You forget my friend that Thor is not the name of one guy in the Marvel Universe. It is a mantle. “Whoever is worthy shall wield the power of Thor” – that’s what the writing on the hammer says. When Thor Odinson was no longer worthy of Mjolnir, the hammer was picked up by his girlfriend Jane Foster, who became the new Thor. The difference between the Odinson and Jane Foster’s Thor was that Jane used her advanced knowledge in the field of theoretical and particle physics to find out new and exciting uses for Mjolnir. She continued being Thor even though every time she transformed into Thor, her body was relapsing back to cancer. In the end, she preferred sacrificing her own life to stop Malekith rather than let innocents die under her watch.
1. Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff has the power to manipulate reality. She is like a walking Infinity Stone. Using her Chaos Magic and Hex powers, Wanda Maximoff earned a place in the Avengers and is the strongest Female Avenger because of the enormous applications and versatility her powers have. Wanda is a force to be reckoned with if she is ticked off. Once she rewrote the whole reality of the entire universe while she was on a temper tantrum. Sure heroes like Captain Marvel can bend steel and move mountains but Scarlet Witch could do all that without even moving a muscle. If you still have doubts regarding her abilities, we suggest you give the limited series House of M a try.
Avengers: Endgame was released on 26th April, 2019. The official film synopsis of the movie has been released and it states:
“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos.
