SPOILER ALERT: The following article contains Major Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy #1. If you guys still have not read it yet and intend to in the future, we suggest you look away….
The new issue of the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series is making quite the rounds in the fan circles and creating huge splashes for all the right reasons. Gone are the days of the Guardians just being limited to classic characters like Drax, Gamora and Rocket Raccoon! There are new heroes that now take their place. Phylla-Vell, Beta Ray Bill, Moondragon and the cosmic Ghost Rider are now officially members of the Guardians. The superheroes that were part of the original roster and are still part of the outlaw crew now are Star-Lord and Groot.
There is a reason for such a change. With Gamora going mad and killing Thanos in the Infinity Wars series, things are only looking bleaker and bleaker for the Marvel Comics Universe. You would be thinking that Thanos dying could be a good thing for the superheroes since they do not have to deal with his devious plans to conquer the universe anymore. But this is where things get interesting – Thanos’ death has opened up a Pandora’s box!
In the event of his death, one of the Mad Titan’s fail-safes has activated. It would allow him to transfer his consciousness to a new creature that is much more powerful, thereby cheating death. But wait, there is more!! While Thanos trying to come back to life after being sentenced to an eternity in the afterlife is not a new thing, it is the way his resurrection has made matters worse and that is what the new talk of the town is!
Thanos – Second Coming!!
Thanos is dead but he is not gone. His brother Starfox has already theorised that Thanos is now officially back from the dead and possesses the body of one of the Earth’s major superhero. Starfox has already compiled a list of potential suspects which includes heavyweights like Odin, Ghost Rider, Nick Fury, Venom, Loki, Iron Man and the Hulk. And his plan is to kill each and every one of the names on that list in order to stop Thanos from ever wreaking havoc on the universe again.
A lot of bloodshed is about to rain on the Marvel Universe when Starfox leads the Shi’ar, the Kree and the Skrulls and a host of several different alien races who are also scared of Thanos coming back from the dead into another mass genocide of the Earth’s superhero population. Starfox’s mission does beg us to ask the question – what is more important – the life of one or the lives of thousands? Whatever Thanos’ brother is planning, we sure hope the superheroes know about this.
The last Avengers movie to be released under the MCU banner was Avengers: Infinity War. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:
Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artefacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just… do things
