Marvel Comics Update: Thor and Storm have a Daughter!!!

The comic books have revealed the concept of alternate realities – different planes of existence where things are truly bizarre. There might be Nazis still around or Humanity was never born or there might not be even an Earth to begin with. The concept of multiple realities have endless possibilities and they have been explored thoroughly in the pages of the team known as Exiles, a group of interdimensional outlaws tasked with protecting existence itself. And in one such adventure, they were lucky enough to meet the child of two famous heroes from the Marvel Comics Universe. Presenting – Marvel Comics Update – Thor and Storm have a daughter!!!

Writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Javier Rodriguez bring to life yet another interesting chapter in the daily lives of the Exiles Superhero team. Apart from introducing Thor and Storm’s daughter, the particular issue also introduced a new version of the Valkyrie, a version that is as close as it could be to Tessa Thompson’s avatar of the character of the same name in Thor: Ragnarok.

But here is the catch – this new Valkyrie character was actually the second choice for the writers and the artists of the issue. They wanted someone else to represent girl power in all its glory in place of the Valkyrie. They wanted Thunderstorm – the biological daughter of Thor Odinson aka Lord of Thunder and Ororo Munroe aka Storm of the X-Men. The character of Thunderstorm was long in the cards of the Marvel writers who wanted to help her make her debut in a grand fashion but it was always given a second thought and pushed aside. This time, though, the odds were in Thunderstorm’s favor.

Javier Rodriguez recently took to Twitter where he revealed the concept art for Thunderstorm, the official first choice for the post now occupied by Valkyrie in this new Exiles issue.

This is what Thunderstorm would have looked like:

Saladin Ahmed was later heard saying this and we quote:

(There was an X-plotline where Storm briefly ruled Asgard, and this imagined her staying on & eventually taking Thor as her consort…then they have a rowdy daughter.)

In the new Exiles series, Nick Fury becomes the new Unseen and guardian of the Multi-verse. He patches together a ragtag group of gifted vigilantes that have the power and ability to do what is right to save the universes from imploding. To that end, he hired the help of Blink, a survivor from the dreaded times of Age of Apocalypse and a moral support to guide the rest of the team. Soon after, it was found out that Thunderstorm was also part of the concept but was scrapped at the last moment.

Rodriguez was quick to show a picture of Thunderstorm in full action Norse gear as she braces for the incoming impact with a smile on her face. Judging by the detailed picture, we have to assume that there might be some way that Thunderstorm was going to be a part of the Exiles Team.

This is what Javier Rodriguez had to say about the situation:

Good to see positive feedback for Thunderstorm! She was there but finally, Valkyrie was a superb choice. For all Exiles followers and curious, discarded cover art with Thunderstorm as part of the team!!!

But there is still hope. If the Exiles comic book issues keep churning out profit for the publication, we are sure that Ahmed and Rodriguez would have no problem bringing back Thunderstorm into the fold, this time for the better.

While the Exiles do their thing in the Marvel Comics, you can always enjoy your favorite superheroes in the movies. The last superhero movie to be released under the Marvel Banner was Ant-Man and the Wasp. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:

Marvel Comics Update: Thor and Storm have a daughter!!!

Scott Lang is grappling with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and a father. Approached by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym, Lang must once again don the Ant-Man suit and fight alongside the Wasp. The urgent mission soon leads to secret revelations from the past as the dynamic duo finds itself in an epic battle against a powerful new enemy.
