6 Full-Body Complex Barbell Exercises

In today’s hectic world, time is truly of the essence. School, work, family etc. all take up some of the valuable 24 hours that make up your day. So how do you make time to fit in that workout that you know you need to do? The answer to this my friends is complex barbell workouts!

Complex barbell routines are a series of movements, completed back to back, using a barbell and the same amount of weight. These will both strengthen your body and give your cardio system a blast as well!

It is important to select a weight that you will be able to use for the completion of all the exercises you choose to do. Leave your ego at the door. This type of workout is about endurance and stamina, you aren’t trying to set any personal one rep records here. You might want to warm up with just the bar as you go through each movement, just to be sure you’re comfortable.

Complete 1 rep of each exercise, 2-3 times without putting the bar down. For example:

Cleans

Lunge

Squat

Then you immediately repeat those 6 movements two more times before putting the bar down. Try four sets like that. Start out with a 2-minute rest between rounds and then gradually decrease the time each set.

Again, use a weight that you can handle on your weakest lift. These will seriously kick your ass in a very short period of time! So the next time you find yourself running late in the gym, give complex barbell movements a try. Get in, get out, and get on with your life. Peace.
