DC Comics Update: Jesus Christ Becomes DC’s Newest Superhero

Just when you think that there is nothing in this world that could surprise you, the comic book universe throws at you something that summarily astounds you and pushes you back to the realm of astonishment yet once again. This time, it is DC Comics that has managed to do the same for scores of comic book readers all over the world. True, some of its character choices for potential candidature for the role of a superhero have been truly bizarre and downright disastrous. I mean who can forget Arm-Fall-Off Boy (yes, his power is exactly what he sounds like) and Matter-Eater Lad (I rest my case).

But this time, DC has decided to go into the unknown and unexplored with a new type of superhero. You might know him but you would have never expected that this guy, who was kind of doing fine on his own when it comes to protecting the people, would one day become a vigilante protector of the innocent.

Vertigo Comics is an imprint of DC Comics. Having made its first comic book published in 1993, Vertigo has managed to make quite a name for itself since more than two decades of a successful run. Vertigo features parodies of the flagship DC Characters (for instance, Superman becomes Sun-Man in the Vertigo Comic Universe) and involves storylines that are too graphic and violent to be featured for the kid-friendly DC Universe.

For years, Vertigo has provided comic book writers and artists with a means to express their creative freedom without the confines of the Comics Code Authority breathing down their necks. And this time, they have used the Vertigo Comics’ free reign on creativity to manifest in a way that we could have never imagined.

They made Jesus Christ a superhero. We will soon see him fighting crime and protecting the people from evil in the streets of the human world.

What a world we are in…..

The character of Jesus Christ will be featuring in a comic book series titled Second Coming. DC Comics has recently released its March 2019 solicitation in advance. Artist Richard Pace and writer Mark Russell, both frequent juggernauts of the DC Comic book studios, are creating the first issue of the highly anticipated Second coming Vertigo comic issue.

The series begins something like this – The Son of God is sent to planet earth to re-learn the basics of saving humanity (since he has done a terrible job until now as far as the 21st Century is concerned). When he actually sets foot on Earth, he meets Sun-Man, a parody of DC Comics’ Superman and teams up with him for a tour of the Human World. During this adventure, Jesus learns that his peaceful teachings of love, affection and harmony have been twisted and now these mutilated messages are being used by humanity to lead mankind into an inevitable journey towards self-destruction.

What do you think? Did you think DC Comics choosing Jesus Christ to be their latest caped crusader a stroke of genius or just the ramblings of the last madman?? Whatever the case may be, DC sure knows how to grab attention.

Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just... do things
