SPOILER ALERT – Major Spoilers for Avengers #9 up ahead. If you intend on reading it in the future and you still have not, we suggest you look away….

Namor the Anti-Hero has struck again. In the latest pages of the comic book series of Avengers by Jason Aaron, he has done the unthinkable. He might have finally decided to join the dark side. Or is he?

Marvel Comics Namor The Sub-Mariner Avengers

Namor is a King and he will only look out for the best interest of his people. If that puts him at loggerheads with the Earth’s mightiest heroes, so be it. In fact, it has happened so many times in the comic books that we have lost count. This murderous act by Thanos is just a drop in the ocean if we start counting all the ‘questionable’ things he has done in the past.

Marvel Comics Namor The Sub-Mariner Avengers After the events of the Avengers Vs. The X-Men, things have finally come back to normalcy for the Marvel Universe. Avengers and the X-Men now work in unison to tackle universal threats. Namor is now part of the X-Men as well. He is a major member of the X-Men Red team led by Jean Grey. But his intentions of joining the team look ambiguous enough already.

The suspicions of the readers are confirmed when Namor gets into a violent spat with the villain known as Tiger Shark. Tiger Shark is also the brother-in-law to Stingray, who is also involved in the said confrontation. Namor and Tiger Shark’s fight turns lethal when Namor executes the killing blow, murdering Tiger Shark in cold blood. But why would he do something like that??

Stingray is an Avenger that is vacationing in the Bahamas with his wife, who just so happens to be the sister of Tiger Shark, the guy whose waters Stingray’s ship accidentally trespasses. Stingray and Tiger Shark soon get into a fight. After a witty exchange of words, the fight between the two is cut short by the arrival of Namor, who decides to rant on about the surface world. Stingray tries to reason with him but Namor decides to end the scene then and there. He orders his mutant sharks to finish off an already battle-battered Stingray.

Stingray is devoured in the waters. That is how brutal Marvel’s Sub Mariner is. This again begs the same question we asked before – Why??

Marvel Comics Namor The Sub-Mariner Avengers

Namor has always played a crucial role in the Avengers. Captain America, Iron Man and Namor have been through thick and thin together. Whatever Namor’s reasons were for ordering his shark army to maul Stingray to death be, none of the Avengers will take kindly to this act. Namor’s Day of Judgment might finally be coming when the X-Men and the Avengers band up together to stop this rogue superhero from doing further damage.

Namor is also going to prepare for the upcoming battle. Tiger Shark is now a part of his up and coming team. Namor has declared that he has “no friends in the surface world”. He will be looking for allies that could aid him in his battle against the surface people. If Stingray is alive, if the carcass of Stingray we saw in the background is still alive and kicking and is not exactly a carcass, Stingray might also be looking for revenge for this backstab. Things are looking really interesting for the Avengers miniseries. Jason Aaron, Justin Ponsor and David Marquez have done a good job.

Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just... do things
