Marvel’s superheroes are very different. They come from different walks of life. Some of them get superpowers as a result of some accident. Others misuse their powers in the beginning but later put them to some good use when they realize their importance or if they lose someone who was very close to them. We have seen a lot of villains in the Marvel Universe. Now there have been a few superheroes who were originally villains in the beginning. But circumstances forced them to join the team of superheroes and save the world. Here are the Marvel Heroes Who Were Villains in the beginning.
Marvel Heroes Who Were Villains
1. Wonder Man
Wonder Man is popular for his relationship with Scarlet Witch. But most of us have forgotten that he was at first introduced as a villain. He was convicted of embezzlement and was bailed out by the Masters of Evil and got iconic powers from experiments done by them, fighting the Avengers and dying. But this new nature let him be resurrected and become an Avenger. He became one of the group’s toughest members, used his iconic powers to fight the team’s foes, and got involved in a love triangle with Scarlet Witch and Vision.
2. Black Widow
Black Widow is one of the most skilled and experienced members of the Avengers. She has led the team and fought along with the best heroes. This was a big change from the time she started and she was one of the greatest spies and assassins that Russia had ever put into the field. She fought with Iron Man before joining the heroes and became one of the greatest Avengers of all time. She helped out the team and worked with S.H.I.E.L.D. and other heroes, fighting the good fight and helped to save the world more times than can be counted.
3. Scarlet Witch
The origin of Scarlet Witch is similar to that of her brother Quicksilver. She was recruited by Magneto and helped fight the X-Men and then joined the Avengers. Since then, her life went through a lot of ups and downs and this was because of the tribulations of her early life and dealing with the powers that allow her to manipulate reality itself. She has done some very regrettable things in the last few years but has always found her way back into the light and proved that she is a hero underneath.
4. The Winter Soldier
Bucky Barnes has changed a lot since his debut in the 1940s. The major one was becoming the Winter Soldier. He was saved by the Soviets who rebuilt him and made him a premier assassin. He went on missions, assassinated people, and went back into suspended animation. He was pitted against Captain America and the two battled it out. But eventually, Cap got through his old friend and Winter Soldier went back to being a hero and becoming Captain America for a time.
Magneto has been the greatest foe of X-Men for decades. But later he joined the team and proved his place among them. He was a part of the team after M-Day and helped them to protect the remnants of the mutant kind. He is a bit hardcore but he has helped the group to save a lot of lives. Magneto had a complicated relationship with the team and is one of the leaders of Krakoa and helped establish the nation. He may be doing it just to save the mutants and this doesn’t change his heroism.
The story of Kwannon and Psylocke is a very long and complicated one. Now Elizabeth Braddock is Captain Britain and Kwannon is Psylocke, using her telepathy and ninja skills to help the mutant nation of Krakoa. Before the first switch, Kwannon was one of The Hand’s greatest assassins. She did the dark ninja cult’s bidding in Japan and has a lot of innocent blood on her hands. Her time as an assassin and the lessons she learned have made her the best combatant and one of Krakoa’s greatest defenders.
Apocalypse has been another greatest foe of the X-Men. When Krakoa was established, he kept all of them aside. He was one of the island nation’s leaders and found himself embroiled in a battle between Krakoa and the mutants of Arakko. Arakko’s mutants were in the thrall of the demonic realm of Amenth and Apocalypse’s entire life was about building an army to fight them. Apocalypse fought against his estranged wife and saved both Krakoa and Arakko. This way, he kept the hordes of Amenth from destroying the Earth and acted as a hero.
Quicksilver’s life has been very interesting and his parentage and source of powers have been always questioned. But one thing is confirmed that he started as a villain. He was recruited by Magneto along with his sister Scarlet Witch. Magneto thought they were mutants and Quicksilver joined up with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. He and Scarlet Witch then got tired of Magneto and the rest of the group and were invited to the Avengers by Captain America. He had a hard time over the years but he has been a member of various hero teams.
Assassins become heroes when they find redemption and this is what happened with Elektra. She is the most dangerous woman in the comics and started on a dark road to get revenge for the death of her father. She found herself up against her former boyfriend Daredevil and lost her life battling Bullseye. She returned to her life and worked to make up all the bad things she did in her earlier life, helped heroes like Daredevil and Wolverine, worked for S.H.I.E.L.D., and joined many superteams.
Hawkeye is one of the most underrated Avengers, a master of one of mankind’s oldest weapons fighting against gods, aliens, and superpowered menaces. He is one of the bravest heroes of all time and extends to his time as a villain. When he started, he was manipulated into fighting Iron Man by Black Widow. He had a bow and arrow and it must have been hard for him to fight an armored Avenger. He was brought into the Avengers by Captain America and proved to be one of the team’s greatest members.
