10 MCU Characters That Were Killed Too Early In The Franchise

MCU has introduced us to many characters since its beginning. Most of the characters have not become fan favorite. But one thing that has been repeated in MCU movies is that they put more emphasis on superheroes and less on the supporting actors. Now there have been a few villains and also superheroes that left the franchise too soon. Their powers and potential could be used for a long time. But it is unknown why MCU decided to kill these characters on screen and didn’t resurrect them in any way. Let’s check the list of MCU Characters that were killed too early.

1. Black Widow

Black Widow doesn’t have any superhuman-like abilities. She is trained in KGB. But she can beat the hell out of enemies. We have seen this in most of the previous MCU movies. Black Widow’s character could have been a part of future ensemble cast MCU films. But her character was killed in Avengers: Endgame. Now MCU is offering us a standalone Black Widow film. But the details for a sequel are unknown. So somewhere, killing her character in Endgame was not justified.

2. Crossbones

Along with HYDRA and the Winter Soldier, Brock Rumlow was also an antagonist in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Among all the HYDRA agents, he was a character that got a little bit more screen space in the film. He returned in the final film of the Captain America trilogy with a completely new look and powers. But the character gets killed as a result of a suicide bomb attack. The character has played a major role in Captain America’s death in the comics. But he was killed too soon by the MCU.

3. Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker

Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker was introduced in the mid-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So it was evident that he would appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. MCU fans were expecting him to get an equal amount of role like Ultron but that did not happen. His character was termed as a cameo that appeared at the beginning of the film. He later gets killed by Ultron’s first act. Strucker has been a major foe of the Avengers. But MCU wasted the character completely.

4. Maya Hansen

The character of Maya Hansen was introduced in Iron Man 3. She was an ex-girlfriend of Tony Stark. Later she came back to warn Tony when he issues a televised threat to the Mandarin. She was later revealed to be working with Aldrich Killian. Killian later kills her when she tries to change sides with Iron Man. Maya Hansen was initially chosen as the main villain of Iron Man 3. But Marvel executive Ike Perlmutter didn’t agree to this. Actress Rebecca Hall has stated once that the character’s death scene was a last-minute decision taken by the makers.

5. Volstagg

In Thor: Ragnarok, Hela killed Thor’s three closest pals – Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg. Now no one remembers much about these characters. But Volstagg was the one who had a different kind of personality. He was charming and likable. It would have been great if Volstagg was kept alive considering his chemistry with Thor. Thor has lost a lot since the beginning. Now keeping one of his pals alive could have brought a lot of good and happy moments in the film.

6. Hela

MCU fans were happy when it was announced that Cate Blanchett would play the role of Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Blanchett’s portrayal of the role was loved by the audience. But what’s bad here is that the character was killed at the end of the film. There were rumors about Hela reprising her role in Avengers: Infinity War. She might have appeared as Thanos’ love interest. But this did not happen. Now the character’s whereabouts are unknown. MCU could have used her as a secondary villain in their future projects.

7. Tullk Ul-Zyn

Tommy Flanagan was seen as Tullk Ul-Zyn in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He was an esteemed member of Yondu’s Ravager outfit. He gets caught in the middle of Taserface’s Ravager mutiny and gets blown out of the Ravager ship’s airlock as he refuses to bend the knee to Taserface. Flanagan was looking too good in the Ravager outfit. It would have been great to see him hanging out with Kraglin and also the Guardians in future movies.

8. Quicksilver

MCU Characters That Were Killed Too Early

Quicksilver made his debut along with Scarlet Witch in the mid-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. They were then seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron. MCU fans expected to see more of the characters. But unfortunately, Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver was killed in the battle of Sokovia. The scene was meant to kill Hawkeye. If MCU would not have killed Pietro in this film, then MCU fans would have got to see more of the character in Captain America: Civil War.

9. Zuri

Before the release of Black Panther, director Ryan Coogler called the character Zuri ‘Black Panther’s version of Obi-Wan Kenobi’. So it was obvious that the character got slaughtered by Erik Killmonger in the middle of the film. But the main hero’s adviser being killed by the villain was a very formulaic arc. The character of Zuri deserved more than what we got to see in the film. Now Zuri might be seen again in Black Panther 2.

10. Korath the Pursuer

Korath the Pursuer, played by Djimon Hounsou dies in Guardians of the Galaxy. Drax ripped out one of his head implants and killed him. But considering the character and the actor’s skills, he should have been kept alive for future MCU movies. Now luckily we all got to see him again in Captain Marvel. The film was set in the 90s. But it is said that we will never get to see him again crossing paths with Star-Lord.

So these were the MCU Characters that were killed too early.
