Captain Marvel 2: Spider-Man Crush on Carol Danvers
Kevin Feige confirmed that Captain Marvel 2 is definitely in the making. And we also have the confirmation that Spider-Man will have an appearance in another MCU movie apart from Spider-Man 3. So, will these two factors be compiled to make something out of it? According to the latest rumor, this might happen. Spider-Man and Captain Marvel is a team-up that no one would ever see coming. That’s actually the beauty of Spider-Man, he can be teamed up with any hero and people would watch that.
Back when we saw the first trailer of Avengers: Endgame, people started shipping Thor & Captain Marvel like they’d be the next power couple of the MCU. But, that first trailer was completely a bait and the movie didn’t even come remotely close to that. And now, a new rumor like this has been reported by We Got This Covered, and it is the craziest idea ever.
According to WGTC, Peter Parker is rumored to develop a crush on Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. This sounds completely nuts. Till now, the only interaction between Peter Parker & Carol Danvers has been Peter introducing himself and Carol saying – “Hey Peter Parker, got something for me?” Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place 8 months after this moment, and Peter gets along with Zendaya’s Michelle/MJ. So, according to this rumor, not only will Peter & MJ sort of break up due to some reason, but Peter will also appear in Captain Marvel 2 & start to develop a crush on Carol.
What exactly will happen between Peter & MJ that they actually break up? Will Peter have a crush on Carol while he is in a relationship with MJ? This rumor sounds extremely crazy and unlikely? The romance between Carol and Peter is totally difficult to even imagine. Peter is a high school kid who would soon go to college while Carol Danvers is over 50 years old. Plus Peter’s relationship with Michelle complicates things even further. So, the only truth that this rumor might hold is that Peter might be inspired by Captain Marvel and builds a lot of respect for her. That’s it.
Moreover, Spider-Man’s MCU appearances are limited for now. We don’t know whether Marvel & Sony will continue with a new contract after Spider-Man 3. If not then Kevin Feige might be writing Spider-Man out of the MCU. And if that turns out to be the case, then there’s no way that a Spider-Man appearance will be wasted in Captain Marvel 2 like this. It will most probably happen in Avengers 5.
Spider-Man is someone who could continue in the MCU forever & ever. Moreover, the characters related to him are pure gold. Venom has become a major selling property, Morbius could be used extremely well since Marvel has a Blade movie in works and most importantly, Norman Osborn could really go on to be a major figure offering connections to Dark Avengers as well. Then there are the properties that could connect with Spider-Man himself. Deadpool, Wolverine & Spider-Man crossover would be a dream come true. Spider-Man could gel well with other New York heroes like the Defenders. So, it’s very important for Marvel to have Spider-Man in the future. Let’s see what happens.
Marvel’s future is huge and there’s a lot that could happen. Black Widow is going to kick off the future slate on May 1.
