DC Comics Update – Batman to Wield Lex Luthor’s Greatest Weapon in Combat
When we think of Batman, we are immediately reminded of the famed bat-shaped cowl and that dark and pitch black costume that comes with a badass cape. Batman is what every child and adult that has even a speck of knowledge about the comic book superheroes, hopes to become in the future.
He has managed to outdo, outgun and outsmart opponents that are way stronger, faster and smarter than him using nothing but old school ingenuity and rigorous training. He is the epitome of what a man can do if he is dedicated and committed enough to go to extreme lengths to mould himself in the art of war. To that end, Batman is known to be extremely adaptable.
He is not willing to strike below the belt or use underhanded tactics that would amount no less to cheating in combat if it gives him the upper hand. And he has done it yet again. Batman has (Kind of) joined hands with Superman’s greatest enemy and has even borrowed a weapon from his armoury. Presenting – DC Comics Update – Batman to wield Lex Luthor’s greatest weapon in combat
SPOILER ALERT: Major Spoilers for Justice League #12 up ahead. If you still have not read it yet and intend to in the near future, you know what to do…..
The Batman has an arsenal of weapons at his disposal that he has used over the years to even the playing field when he goes toe to toe against tougher opponents that have the ability to bend steel bare handed or run faster than the speed of sound. He has recently been forced to retire from his role as the Dark Knight. He has suffered an accident and has been paralyzed from the waist down.
As of now, Batman is no longer the Caped Crusader that terrorizes the villains of Gotham City in the night. He is just a wheelchair-bound wannabe vigilante that has lost his purpose in life. The wheelchair in question though is the latest product of cutting-edge technology that has been manufactured by none other than Lex Luthor’s Lex Corp. The Wheelchair has managed to heal him for the time being and there are chances of Bruce Wayne standing back on his own two feet soon.
But that is not the weapon we are talking about. The one we wanted to tell you about is something far more awesome and deadly.
In the 12th issue of Justice League by James Tynion IV and Frazer Irving, we come to know that Batman has always had an ace up his sleeve. Bruce Wayne never likes to be a sitting duck. So when push comes to shove, he believes in saving his own ass by himself and without any outside help. Batman has taken this principle to heart this time as well.
The Legion of Doom has reassembled and is now looking for a powerful cosmic power source called the Totality. To stop the Legion from getting their filthy hands on the Totality, Batman takes out a weapon from his holster that just might be enough to tip the odds in his favour.
Batman wears a powered exoskeleton. But what is so special about an exoskeleton? Batman has been wearing such suits for a long time. The thing is – this powered suit of armour is not his design but Lex Luthor’s. It is Lex Luthor’s signature weapon against the Man of Steel. That’s right folks. Batman is wearing Luthor’s War-suit.
The Suit is bulky and looks like it was a prototype design from Luthor’s earlier experiments before he banked on his final design for a war suit. The suit in question is also much heavier and feels more like a bigger version of the mechanized suit Batman wore in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The League is busy trying to stop everyone from turning into infectious sea creatures while Batman is forced to stop the reserve Legion of Doom Squad that has been tasked with stealing the Totality from the League’s vaults. Batman is seen wearing the suit out of desperation as Luthor starts to taunt him as to why Batman is starting use toys from Luthor’s own collections rather than making one of his own.
Will Batman be able to have a good comeback to that burn? Will Batman finally die in this arc? Guess we will have to wait and find out until Justice League #13 releases in the near future.
