And Marvel has taken the two most amazing beings of their universe, merged the two to create something even more amazing. Presenting – Marvel Comics Update – Thanos becomes the Punisher of the Marvel Universe!!!

The Cosmic Ghost Rider storyline is heading to topsy-turvy town. Frank Castle witnessed the end of the world as he knew it when Thanos took apart the entire Avengers and destroyed the Earth. Frank Castle was the last man standing and he made a deal with the devil, quite literally in fact. He made a deal with Mephisto for more power in exchange for his soul. Castle would then go on to become the very thing he despised himself, a puppet of the universe conqueror, The Mad Titan.

During that journey, he also dipped his hands into the everlasting Power Cosmic as a herald of Galactus. Imagine all that power with a guy who has been consumed with Vengeance to the very core of his soul. Now imagine taking away that power and putting it within Thanos. That is what we are talking about right now.

The newly realized poster for the fifth issue of the Cosmic Ghost Rider storyline has shown us the next best thing Marvel has decided to offer to us. Thanos is seen in Punisher gear and has embraced the mantle to his very emblem itself. He now sports guns and ammo like an 80’s contra soldier in a battle within the stars.

Thanos becomes the Punisher Marvel Comics

The miniseries that is Cosmic Ghost Rider has taken an interesting turn. Frank Castle wants to stop Thanos from ever destroying the universe in the first place. When Thanos took over creation as its sole ruler, everything went to shit. He sat on the throne as a lifeless universe stood before him. The Mad Titan won but in that journey, he took the essence out of the cosmos itself. The universe was now truly dark, morbid and merciless. Not something Thanos had in mind but it couldn’t be helped. As long as he is the victor, he doesn’t give a damn. That is Thanos for you.

Thanos Anthony RussoBut how does Castle stop something that has already happened? He travels back to the past of course! Frank Castle aims to kidnap a baby Thanos and teach him into becoming a noble soul. For Castle, stopping Thanos from becoming the genocide-loving madman is all that matters now. But playing with time can have serious consequences. Time is not something to be changed. The Time Stream flows in one direction for a reason. But Frank Castle wants to change it nonetheless, even though his actions might be the factor that pushes Thanos into becoming the guy he is known as today.

Uatu the Watcher, Galactus a future version of the Guardians of the Galaxy warning him not to do it, he goes into the past to do the inevitable anyway. Will Castle do it right this time or does his actions are the key factor that pushes him over the edge? Only time will tell us the secret.

Cosmic Ghost Rider #5 will release in a few months in November.
