Old Trafford. Saturday, November 05, 2011. Manchester United are set to host Sunderland as Chief Executive David Gill and Sir Alex Ferguson walk on the pitch a day before the Scotsman’s 25th anniversary at the club. Ferguson may have expected the guard of honour and a little speech from David Gill but he was flabbergasted as it was announced that the North Stand of Old Trafford had been renamed to Sir Alex Ferguson Stand.
“I knew nothing about this. My family knew nothing about it. Mick Phelan knew about it, but he didn’t tell me. He’s sacked. He’s out the door!” – Sir Alex Ferguson (To MUTV).

Bolton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Saturday, January 14, 2012. Old Trafford legend Paul Scholes came out of retirement and agreed to play till the end of the season. He was named in the starting eleven and his return to Premier League football couldn’t have been any better as he broke the deadlock in first half stoppage time. United went on to win the game 3-0.

Season 2012/13. A very emotional season for everyone at Manchester United and all their fans around the globe. After 26 years in charge of the club, Sir Alex Ferguson was going to step down at the end of the season. The end of a magical journey, but as Sir Alex said that it wasn’t the end of Manchester United. In his final game at Old Trafford, Javier Hernandez and Rio Ferdinand scored to give Manchester United a 2-1 win over Swansea City. Ferguson’s last league game, as Manchester United manager, was at The Hawthorns against West Bromwich Albion. It ended in an unbelievable and extraordinary 5-5 draw. United won the league, finishing with 89 points, a staggering 11 points clear of Manchester City in second place. Paul Scholes retired at the end of the season for the second time. Robin van Persie won the Golden Boot with 26 goals to his name.

Norwich City at Old Trafford on Saturday, April 26, 2014. After a disappointing performance by David Moyes, he was given the sack and Ryan Giggs became interim manager. His first game as manager ended perfectly as United thrashed Norwich City 4-0. Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata, both scored twice.
