Doctor Strange 2 Trailer Disproves a Major What If Theory About Strange Supreme

There are a lot of theories making the rounds for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming venture Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This is something that is seen every time a new project is coming out from the franchise. We saw before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home that a variety of theories and rumors were making the rounds. While some of these theories came true, others ended up failing because the movie managed to clear them. Similarly, there are a lot of theories surrounding Doctor Strange 2 and some of them actually did come true with the latest trailer but the same can’t be said about one of these theories. The new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness debunks a theory surrounding the Disney+ animated series What If…?.

Doctor Strange 2

Ever since Spider-Man: No Way Home used the concept of Multiverse to bring together the past three Spider-Men, fans have been wondering what we might get to see next. Since Doctor Strange 2 will deal with more of the multiversal chaos, fans started to work on their theories. Some of these theories actually worked their way with the fact that the past few projects from MCU have also hinted at the Multiverse. The first time we got to see the Multiverse at play was with the Disney+ animated series What If…?. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige actually stated that this series will be canon to the MCU. He had further indicated that some of the characters from the series might end up appearing in future MCU projects.

What If Theory

When the trailer for Multiverse of Madness appeared in the post-credits scene for No Way Home fans got to see an exciting new detail. The trailer actually featured two more Doctor Strange variants and one of them actually resembled someone we had seen before. According to the trailer, Strange was gonna face himself as an enemy and a rather sinister-looking Strange variant appeared. Fans instantly linked him to the Doctor Strange variant titled Strange Supreme who appeared in What If…?. That was actually fitting considering the movie was gonna deal with multiversal chaos and it could actually be fitting to the narrative.

The theory stuck for a while and fans were actually considering it to be true but other complications in the narrative started appearing. Based on the arc of Strange Supreme in What If…? he had actually gone good and wanted to do better. Around the end of the series, he was a member of the Guardians of the Multiverse and prevented Ultron from causing havoc in the multiverse. The same character making an appearance in the MCU and facing off against Strange completely cancels everything that we saw. Finally, the new trailer for Doctor Strange 2 clears up the theory.

Multiverse Of Madness Trailer Debunks Theory

The latest trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actually features a lot of exciting new details regarding the movie. While fans were wondering that we will get to see two Doctor Strange variants the trailer bring back another. This trailer also features the Strange variant who was being considered to be Strange Supreme. But an additional detail in the subtitles actually debunks a major theory surrounding this rendition of Doctor Strange. The subtitles for this variant indicate that he is going to be named “Sinister Strange“. Nothing else is known about the character but this might be the final nail in the coffin for the Strange Supreme theory.

While Strange Supreme might not be appearing in the movie, another variant of Strange from What If…? might end up appearing. Around the end of the trailer fans can see an undead version of Strange which resembles the Strange variant from the Zombie episode of What If…?. Until now we can be sure that we will get to see the MCU Doctor Strange, Defender Strange, Sinister Strange, and “Zombie Strange” appearing in the movie. It would be interesting to see these variants coming together and sharing the scene like last year’s Spider-Man variants.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released in theaters worldwide on May 6.
