Tobey Maguire was the very first Spider-Man that fans of the character actually found interesting. The character had its own narrative that closely followed the comics and a brilliantly executed set of villains. When fans found out they would get to see these villains reappear along with Maguire’s Spider-Man in No Way Home, it was surely exciting. No Way Home gave us one of the best moments by bringing these characters back and at the same time uniting three different Spider-Men. There was a lot of emotion from the fans upon seeing the scene where these characters come together to fight the villains. It is hardly believable that this moment actually comes true following all the theories surrounding it. Nobody would have expected that the actors would agree to come back to reprise their roles as the web crawler. Tobey Maguire recently revealed the reason for returning as Spider-Man in No Way Home alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield.
Raimi’s Spider-Man
The Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy was the clearest indication that superhero movies can be brought to live-action. Those movies started the trend of the movies that were based on the comics and perfectly nailed the narratives. Spider-Man 2 is still considered to be one of the best Spider-Man films. Even though Spider-Man 3 received much criticism, it has its own fan base because of Tobey Maguire’s unique interpretation of the persona here. Sam Raimi had plans for another Spider-Man film but it was dropped following the failure of Spider-Man 3. The fans of the character were sure that it would be the last time they would see that interpretation of Spider-Man. This is the main reason that No Way Home will become one of the most important Spider-Man movies ever.
Tobey Maguire Explains Why He Returned To The Role
Andrew Garfield has been quite vocal about his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home following the release of the film. Fans got a lot of opportunities to hear him talk because of the subsequent releases of his own projects. But now we also got a chance to see Tobey Maguire talk about his appearance. He is seen talking about what convinced him to come back and reprise his role as the superhero in an interview from the official Spider-Man Youtube channel.

According to him:
Yeah, no, I know. Maybe you could just give me a little bit of information. But, I don’t know. I gotta say, I was intrigued immediately. In that conversation, the intention, the kind of love and celebration of these movies, and what it meant, I think to Amy and Kevin was apparent. To me, when artists or people who are, um, steering the creative process have a kind of authentic, genuine intent of celebration and love, it just was so apparent in both of them that I just wanted to join that.
He continued:
I’m a big fan of Tom and those movies and Andrew. So, it was definitely intriguing. But, yes, I was also going, ‘Well, what are we going to do?’ And that was a bit mysterious. I did appreciate what was shared. But, it was really about getting together with these people and revisiting what was part of my history and getting a chance to like come together. There are personal things too, which are kind of resolutions or a way to revisit and… I’m not quite sure how to put it. It’s just to get to get back into that and I don’t want to say like close the chapter… But revisit and have certain resolutions and just join in this loving creative spirit.
Tobey Maguire’s Spidey’s Future
It is rather interesting to hear that he is intrigued by the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s attempt at uniting the three different Spider-Men. This actually indicates that he would absolutely join in if there are more such opportunities for him in the future. There are even rumors going around stating that we might get to see his Spider-Man make an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Fans can be assured that even if he is brought back again, it won’t be just anything but an actual meaningful moment to see him appear in the role again.
