Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Loki Will Return in Doctor Strange 2

The epic finale of Loki completely blew us away. It has opened up the future of MCU. Both Phase 4 and Phase 5 will be defined by what happened in the Loki series. It has really planted the roots off of which the rest of the MCU will grow. We’ve got some major setups for projects like What If…?, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The ending of Loki revealed that he would be back in season 2. But, now it seems that Loki will return in Doctor Strange 2 before his own second season.

Back in 2019, Kevin Feige revealed that Loki will set up Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As soon as he said it, people started to believe that Loki will return in Doctor Strange 2 after his own show. And just a few months back, Kevin Feige’s comments made it seem that Loki’s setup for the Doctor Strange sequel might be minuscule. But as soon as the series began, he got to know that Feige was just getting ready for the grand surprise.

Spoilers for Loki Episode 6, “For All Time, Always” follow.

Loki will return in Doctor Strange 2

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Right of the bat, Miss Minutes had foreshadowed what was going to happen in the very end. She said that if many branches were allowed to exist, it will ultimately result in a Multiversal War. And that’s exactly what happened. Sylvie killed Immortus/He Who Remains and the Multiverse had branched into madness from that threshold. It is a clear setup for all four aforementioned projects. But despite the setup, it still didn’t really seem that Loki would be seen before Season 2. And now, a new report suggests otherwise.

The Hollywood Reporter just wrote that Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will return in Doctor Strange 2. So, we could actually expect the magical trio of Doctor Strange, Loki, and the Scarlet Witch to unite in the same frame. It would be a huge missed opportunity if that doesn’t happen and Loki is just there for a minute or so. But, let’s wait and see what the future has in store for us.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Loki’s appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness would be great because of many reasons. The first is obviously the assembly of these Mystical masters. Secondly, fans won’t have to wait until 2023 for the major cliffhanger of Loki to be solved. And third is that Loki and Doctor Strange 2 would form a better and more direct connection if Loki himself shows up to help with the Multiverse of Madness.

Kang Won’t Arrive Until Ant-Man 3

Although, Kang still may not show up in Doctor Strange 2 because it has a different villain, and Kang is supposed to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania instead. If you still don’t understand what really happened at the end of Loki’s finale, then Loki’s production designer Kasra Farahani has you covered. He said that the set design of Kang and the TVA we saw at the end was kept identical to the TVA we know. It was done “to delay the audience and Loki’s understanding that they were in a different place, that they were in a different timeline.” It’ll be interesting to see how Loki will become the key to untangle this big mess.
