5 Upcoming Superhero Movies With No Lead Actors (And 5 With Confirmed Leads)

2020 was all about the Covid-19 pandemic. A very small number of movies made it to the theaters. And the ones that made it were not so much success in terms of box office collections. Now hopefully starting from this year, superhero movies are going to rule at the box office. Marvel and DC have a lot of plans for this year, 2022, and beyond. A few movies have been planned but there are no updates about the casting. But let’s have a look at the confirmed and rumored actors who will be seen in the Upcoming Superhero Movies.

3. Olivia Wilde’s Spider-Woman

Upcoming Superhero Movies With No Lead Actors

While Sony has cast their Kraven, they haven’t made a move on the live-action version of Jessica Drew yet. Olivia Wilde is directing the Spider-Woman movie which will probably be set in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. But neither does this film have a release date, nor does it have a lead actor. It was announced before Kraven. So, it should be far ahead in development. But it seems that we will see this film in late 2023, and an actor may not be cast very soon.

4. Fantastic Four is coming but who they will be is unknown

Fantastic Four is getting a new reboot since the 2015 reboot was a box office bomb. The new reboot will be directed by Jon Watts. The director is currently busy giving final touches to Spider-Man: No Way Home. There are high expectations from this reboot since Watts is the director and the previous three films have not impressed the audience much. But the casting details and plot are still a mystery for us. The film is scheduled to release in 2023. So there is a possibility that by 2022, we will get more details about the cast and plot of the reboot.

5. No actress confirmed yet for Zatanna

Upcoming Superhero Movies With No Lead Actors

Academy Award-winning writer and director Emerald Fennell has taken the responsibility to bring a live-action film for HBO Max, based on the character of Zatanna Zatara. Fennell recently said that she is excited to have a budget by which she can make something that could entertain the audiences and can live up to their expectations. But the latest reports say that the leading lady has not been cast yet. Considering Fennell’s previous works, we might get to see a dark sense of humor in the Zatanna movie.

Upcoming Superhero Movies With Confirmed Actors

1. Natalie Portman in Thor: Love and Thunder

Upcoming Superhero Movies With Confirmed Actors

Natalie Portman was seen playing the role of Jane Foster in the first two Thor films. A few reports say that she felt her role was overshadowed. This might have been the reason behind her absence in Thor: Ragnarok. Now Portman will reprise her role in the fourth installment of the Thor franchise, which is Thor: Love and Thunder. The film is directed by Taika Waititi. There is a possibility that Jane Foster might take on the mantle of Thor. This means the movie might be Chris Hemsworth’s final appearance as Thor.

2. Monica Rambeau’s superhero name in Marvels is The Only Unknown

The sequel of Captain Marvel will soon make its way into the theaters. The Covid-19 pandemic is the reason why the film has not seen the light of the day. Brie Larson will reprise her role as Captain Marvel. But the film will also feature Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau. The character of Monica Rambeau made her debut in Disney+’s WandaVision. The superhero name of Monica Rambeau is still unknown. She has been called by various names in the comics like Captain Marvel, Photon, Pulsar, and Spectrum.

3. Mahershala Ali as Blade

The latest reports say that the filming for the reboot is scheduled to start in summer 2022. So on the basis of that, we can expect that the film might get released sometime in 2023. J.C. Chandor is coming up with a Kraven movie which is scheduled to release on January 13, 2023. Sony had approached big names like Keanu Reeves, Brad Pitt, Adam Driver, and even John David Washington for the part. But apparently, Taylor-Johnson’s performance in the upcoming film, Bullet Train “blew away the Sony execs who moved fast to offer him the part.”

5. The Spider-Woman in Spider-Verse 2

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a huge hit at the box office. After the success of the first film, Sony started to develop a sequel. It is unknown if all the versions of Spider-Man will be seen in this film. But it has been revealed that the role of Jessica Drew, the original Spider-Woman, will be played by Issa Rae. The actress is well known for her role on HBO’s Insecure. She was also the co-creator and co-writer of the same. Issa Rae has been the new addition to the Spider-Verse sequel.
