New Photo Confirms That Ben Affleck is Still DCEU’s Batman

The DCEU is a strange and mysterious place. One moment you hear news to be official, the other moment it is found to be untrue. There are so many rumors attached to its tail that we have already stopped counting. One such rumor was that the DCEU’s Batman aka Ben Affleck will be leaving the franchise and someone else, someone younger, will be replacing him for the upcoming Batman movie. That rumor persisted for so long that fans finally accepted the fact that Batfleck leaving the DCEU might just be true after all. Then there is this piece of news which reveals that Ben Affleck is not going anywhere and he will continue in his role as the Batman. It is all very confusing. Presenting- New Photo confirms that Ben Affleck is still the DCEU’s Batman.

Ben Affleck Batman DCEU

It was never believable as a concept to believe that the studio will give Ben Affleck the pink slip after letting him portray the most profitable comic book superhero in history and become the face of the franchise. If the studio even considered doing it, the fans of the franchise fuming at the mouth must have stopped them from going ahead with this plan.

Ben Affleck is the perfect, truest portrayal of the Batman that is as close to the comic book version as it could ever be. And yet the rumor mill kept churning out one bad news after another about Ben Affleck finally letting go of the cowl. The reason was Justice League destroyed his reputation for playing a superhero on screen. Nothing can be farther from the truth.

With so much going on, Ben Affleck certainly has ensured of keeping the morale of the DC fanbase high. He took a picture and posted it on social media that has finally confirmed that Ben Affleck is going nowhere. At first glance, the picture looks like just another ordinary celebrity picture found on social media. But when you look at the caption, it tells a different story altogether. The photo was taken with Ben Affleck and an unknown representative of a Hollywood based celebrity marketing firm. Here is the official picture featuring Ben Affleck that we are talking about:

The caption says:

We had a fun afternoon with #academyaward winner #BenAffleck! 2019 will be an exciting year! #actor #Batman #DarkKnight #comic #autograph #con #convention #oscar #goodwillhunting #MattDamon #Argo #JackRyan #PearlHarbor #director

We could interpret in another way, though. In the DCEU timeline, the Batman we know and love is getting old. So what Warner Bros might be trying to do here is feature Ben Affleck portray an older Dark Knight that is looking for someone to pass the torch of Gotham to. There are several actors that have lined up to play the part with Jake Gyllenhaal and Kit Harrington being the fan favorites. We will know more about the updates in the movie as more news surfaces about The Batman movie being directed by Matt Reeves. Production on the movie is expected to begin next year.

Ben Affleck as the Batman appeared last in DCEU’s Justice League. The official synopsis of the movie reads:

Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity, and inspired by Superman‘s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly-awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes in Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and the Flash, it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Ben Affleck made his official debut as the Batman in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. The official synopsis of the movie reads:

It’s been nearly two years since Superman’s (Henry Cavill) colossal battle with Zod (Michael Shannon) devastated the city of Metropolis. The loss of life and collateral damage left many feeling angry and helpless, including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). Convinced that Superman is now a threat to humanity, Batman embarks on a personal vendetta to end his reign on Earth, while the conniving Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) launches his own crusade against the Man of Steel.
