Does Hawkeye’s Family Really Die at the End of Infinity War?

The guy who challenged the Gods with a bow and arrow, the guy who took on an entire family with a quiver and won, the guy without which even the Avengers fell apart, Hawkeye is one hell of a dude. Clint Barton may not look like much but in a group that consists of a God of Thunder, an armor-wielding genius, a super soldier, a green giant and the perfect spy, he is one of the most relatable characters ever in the Avengers roster. Besides, he is a family man. There is nothing more human than family. But the fact is – neither did we see Hawkeye nor his family in the latest Avengers flick. Some claim his family is dead. Some say they aren’t. So which one is it? Presenting – Does Hawkeye’s family really die at the end of Infinity War?!?!?

SPOILER ALERT – Major Spoilers for Ant-Man and the Wasp up ahead. Enter at your own risk….

The ending of the Infinity War made us see a brutal cliff-hanger. A lot of prominent heroes are dead and a lot of them are still grieving for their tremendous loss. Infinity War almost sliced the number of Avengers by half. But the story didn’t just end with Infinity War. In the Ant-Man and the Wasp mid-credits scene, we see a lot of the heroes breathing their last as the Thanos Snap sucks the life out of them, sucking their ashes into the void. Yet one guy was still missing. Hawkeye didn’t make it to the cut. So where is he for goodness sake!!!

Many are of the opinion that Hawkeye has suffered the loss of his family right in front of his eyes after the Thanos Snap. He has now become the Ronin, an identity he assumed in the comics after his family is murdered. Jeremy Renner will appear as Ronin aka Clint Barton in Avengers 4. So should we consider the Barton Family dead except Ronin?

The answer isn’t that simple. After Hawkeye failed to show up in Avengers 3, everyone was of the opinion that Hawkeye will surely pop up in Ant-Man and the Wasp. It never happened. While many heroes died in the mid-credits scene for the Ant-Man sequel, Hawkeye wasn’t there. His family wasn’t there. And there might be another explanation as to why he didn’t make it to the theatres with Ant-Man and the Wasp. Maybe Marvel is saving Hawkeye for Captain Marvel or Avengers 4?

If the former is true, Captain Marvel will surely feature a praiseworthy post-credits scene showing the man of the hour. But if it is the latter case, the only point where you could see the man with the quiver in action is at the very beginning of the movie. If Avengers 4 doesn’t show Hawkeye’s family’s death in the movie’s beginning, then there might be a possibility that it could never become possible to show the death of Barton Family after this. Besides, there have been reports that the Marvel studios have cast an older actress as Cassie Lang. This means that Avengers 4 will be a time jump. And time jumps can help the franchise get away with a lot of things including the death of a prominent Avengers member.

The latest movie to be released under the Marvel Cinematic Universe banner is Ant-Man and the Wasp. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:

Scott Lang is grappling with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and a father. Approached by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym, Lang must once again don the Ant-Man suit and fight alongside the Wasp. The urgent mission soon leads to secret revelations from the past as the dynamic duo finds itself in an epic battle against a powerful new enemy.

Hawkeye's Family Infinity War

The third Avengers movie is titled Avengers: Infinity War. It was released on April 27, 2018. The Official Film synopsis for the movie reads:

Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artefacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
