With every new day, we keep getting new pieces of footage for the film Avengers: Endgame. Even though the movie is still 10 days away, we now know quite a lot about the plot of the film since marketing has given us a whole lot from the first half of the film. There would obviously be a whole lot of CGI trickery involved, but we cannot be sure of which scenes has Marvel manipulated, except probably one or two.
One of the infamously manipulated scenes was shown to us in the Super Bowl TV Spot where Steve, Natasha, Bruce, and Rhodey were walking out of the Avengers facility, looking at a mysterious personality arriving from the sky. There’s a very visible gap that could be hiding characters who were edited out of this particular scene. So, we know that there are at least one or more characters that are supposed to be present here.
By the Captain Marvel post-credits scene, we know that Captain Marvel is with the Avengers, and also Thor & Rocket were missing, so perhaps they could also have been present in this particular scene. Seeing the special Look, we know that Tony returns and meets Pepper, so that was probably the same scene and it was obviously team Cap looking at Tony Stark and Nebula arriving in the Benatar.
We see Rocket hold Nebula’s hand as he finds out about his team, and that’s how we know that he is also supposed to be in that scene. But now we have conclusive evidence that Captain Marvel is also present. In the new TV Spot, there’s this particular Captain Marvel sequence. Take a look:
We can see the Quinjet and the Avengers HQ behind her as she asks, “Are you sure they’re on our side?” referring to the Benatar approaching towards them. So this officially is the scene where the surviving Avengers meet Tony Stark for the first time after his absence from the planet during Infinity War. They obviously won’t know that it is Tony who is coming back, but Rocket could point out that his friends are coming to Earth.
While the Avengers could feel a bit relieved seeing Tony, Rocket could be devastated not seeing any of his team members return, except for Nebula. He’s already seen Groot disintegrate, and finding out the same about the rest of his team could really break him! But since Pepper meets Tony, we can also assume that she is present at the Avengers HQ as well.
This brings us to the question that why would she be at the HQ? She could only be there if the team knows that it is in fact Tony that is returning home. Perhaps Rocket could have intercepted some kind of a message sent from the ship by Nebula. We’ll only find out once Avengers: Endgame comes out.
Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame will open on April 26, and it’ll presumably star Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Renner Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage, Benedict Wong, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tessa Thompson, Evangeline Lilly, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum, Katherine Langford, Stellan Skarsgard, Ava Russo and Brie Larson.
Here’s the new synopsis of Avengers: Endgame:
“Thanos snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War, and half the life in the universe instantly dissolved. Now a ragged group of surviving warriors, including Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk works to counteract the Mad Titan’s genocidal action.
Since our heroes couldn’t stop Thanos the first time, what makes them think they can win in a rematch? The answer may be in overwhelming power, thanks to Captain Marvel, or in the tiniest spaces between atoms accessible to Ant-Man. Avengers: Endgame will rewrite the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. When it’s all over, nothing will be the same.”
