The major fear amongst movies during the pandemic period was finding success amongst the audience in the midst of the fear for the virus. Post pandemic most of these movies are still trying to work on gathering an audience for their movies. The biggest benefit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is facing right now is that more and more audience is interested in watching it. This could be a major win since Disney was using Shang-Chi as a check on whether they should release the movie both in the theatre and the Disney Plus streaming service. The box office numbers of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings have been able to remain at the top for the third consecutive weekend.
Box Office Records
The movie has been able to make a major success at the box office. This is a bigger win than usual considering box office numbers haven’t made a comeback for most movies like they used to before the pandemic. The movie had a record-breaking opening weekend at the box office and it’s all set to topple the numbers for Black Widow. The movie has crossed $320 million at the worldwide box office. It has won the third consecutive weekend at the domestic Box Office by making $21.7 million, and it does not seem to be going down for a while. Its current domestic standings are $176 million. Marvel is lucky that the movie was released with a 45-day exclusive theatrical window.
If Shang-Chi continues to perform like this, it will soon take down Black Widow ($377 million) even without a Chinese release. Black Window had collected just $26 million at the box office while Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings collected a total of $35.8 million in its second weekend. And now it has stood strong in its third weekend as well. But it will be interesting to see if Shang-Chi will get close to the $500 million mark because that’s how much Black Widow made including the Disney+ premier access money. In fact, it easily made more than $500 mil.
Other Movies At The Box Office
Other movies in this list of the week’s biggest box office films include Ryan Reynbolds’ Free Guy, Cry Macho, Candyman, and Malignant. Dune is all set to release in the theaters soon but it has already earned $36.8 million at the international box office with its early release from just 24 markets. It has already broken pandemic-era box office records in 10 markets including Russia, France, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Ukraine, Hong Kong as well as Singapore.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been able to make sure that it continues to be one of the best solo ventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the movie explores a lot of the dynamics of a typical hero as we have previously seen in Marvel movies, it also makes sure that the project pays respect to the culture and traditions of China. Comic book fans are surprised by the brilliant way the character was explored for the movie by making sure that the offensive parts of the character were removed. The movie also introduces a lot of the characters into the MCU. The movie has received a strong critical reception and at the same time a massive success with the fans.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is not only enjoying a box office success as the movie also experiences a massive critical response. The movie met with positive reviews from the critics and has secured a Rotten Tomatoes fresh score of 92%.
