The Batman Is Reportedly Set On DCEU’s Earth-2

One of DC’s most loved characters is Bruce Wayne, Batman. Ever since Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, the bar has been set too high for the said character. The Batman is said to be released in 2022, is directed by Matt Reeves. What came as a surprise is that Robert Pattinson will be seen playing Batman. This one news in particular stirred up the internet and was instantly viral. Alongside Robert Pattinson, we will get to see Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, etc, Parallel to directing the movie, Matt Reeves has also written the screenplay with Peter Craig.

When The Batman was first announced, people assumed that the movie will be directed by Ben Affleck, and would also star in it. But the rumors were eventually struck down. This came in with the wake of Affleck’s career suffering after his role as Batman. The role was not well perceived by the audience. Also, the movies did not perform as well as they should have. Hence, Affleck decided to never touch the role again. It was eventually confirmed that the initially planned solo movie was no longer happening. But The Batman is not just simply recasting. It is getting totally revamped. Just like odd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, The Batman will be separated from the DCEU.

In the recent reports, it is being said The Batman is to be set on DCEU’s Earth-2. Commissioner Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) and Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), will also appear. The plot details are still under the wrap. Warner Bros. is focusing on sliding towards the concept of Multiverses for its superheroes. it’s now being reported that The Batman will be set in DCEU’s Earth-2. The report from THR also claims that other DCEU heroes will also be set in the same universe.

Ben Affleck did return as the Batman is Snyder’s Justice League. Apart from the footage from the theatrical cuts, Affleck returned to shoot the sequences for the Knightmare sequence that were added by Zack Snyder. Snyder had plans for Justice League sequels. But Warner Bros. has no plans of following up with it. But the internet is loaded with ‘Restore The SnyderVerse’ hashtags, and we never know if we get a sequel or not. Even if the sequels happen and Affleck returns as the Batman, it wouldn’t Matt Reeves’s version of the character. This is because it’s reported that Pattinson’s version of the Dark Knight is set on Earth-2.

What’s exciting is the prospect of these worlds colliding for an epic crossover. Gotham will finally be treated as an important character and Matt is driven to show its vitality. Gotham will now be back to life, focusing more on heroism and selfless acts. “I’m vengeance,” said Batman in its official teaser and was the working title for the movie. Gotham is a character in itself when it comes to Batman and his shenanigans. The Batman can put DC on a trampoline and watch its number bounce higher and higher.

When Robert Pattinson was first announced to play Bruce Wayne, the internet was taken by surprise. But as soon as the trailer aired, people were instantly in love with Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman. When Pattinson showed himself in the Bat Suit, people went bonkers and could not remain calm. Matt Reeves has stated that this Batman movie will be a point of view driven noir tale with a heavy focus on Batman’s detective skills. Batman is set to stick to his old school ways of solving crimes. This means that he will less of technology, and more of his analytical skills. It will be interesting to see this simple Batman, set on a different Earth, fighting off crime and dealing with his enemies.

But everything aside, Matt Reeves would have to first construct and build his own multiverse if The Batman is to be set on Earth-2. Warner Bros. would have to develop Pattinson’s character as he is still in his early years of being the Caped Crusader. The Batman trailer gave its fans a lot of promises and fans just cannot wait to see Robert Pattinson as Batman and get mesmerized by Matt Reeve’s impeccable direction skills. Check out the trailer below:

At one point, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot director Kevin Smith said that The Batman would follow the famous comic storyline The Long Halloween, which showcased more of Bruce Wayne’s detective skills.
