Zack Snyder Reveals His Choice For DCEU’s Catwoman; Reveals Her History With Batman

DCEU’s Catwoman:

It just feels so good when Zack Snyder keeps talking about the DCEU. He has so many brilliant unused DCEU ideas, and what’s great is that he only reveals a few of them on the internet. The rest are all yet to be utilized in his upcoming projects. People might know quite a few details about Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but there are several surprises that we still don’t know of. So, that’s what makes the upcoming HBO Max miniseries so exciting.

We’ve got several new reveals about Snyder’s Justice League in the recent days. Jared Leto has joined the cast as Joker. Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke was a part of the recent filming conducted upon the project. And, Snyder just gave us glimpses of Martian Manhunter and Darkseid. Along with all this, he has also talked about the DCEU’s Catwoman. Don’t take this as a confirmation for Catwoman to be a part of his Justice League. He has just put out an idea of how Catwoman could have been a part of Bruce Wayne’s life in the past.

So far, there haven’t been any major hints for Selina Kyle’s presence in the DCEU. But, Batfleck has spent over 20 years in Gotham. With Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad, we’ve seen so many Batman villains who have already been a part of the DCEU. The likes of KG Beast, Black Mask, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Joker, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, the Riddler, Penguin and many others have been active in the DCEU. So, it is obvious that Selina Kyle would also exist in the same universe. And, Zack has confirmed that he likes the idea of Carla Gugino in the role of Kyle alongside Ben Affleck’s Batman.

He recently appeared on the League of Mayhem stream, and here’s what he said about Gugino as Catwoman:

“Probably I would say Carla’s Catwoman [is perfect]. You would have to say, there’s a flashback to ten years ago, where they were a thing. And then he had to arrest her, I don’t know what happened, or he had to let her go, and it tweaked him. And now, who knows what she’s doing now, she’s running some sort of international antiquities or something, and he needs to retire, and they find each other. Yeah, I do think Carla is — yeah, she is good.”

Gugino has worked with Snyder in Watchmen and Sucker Punch. So, it’s understandable for him to prefer her as his DC Universe’s Catwoman. And honestly, this idea is pretty solid, and it could have become a reality if a solo Batfleck project on HBO Max explores the past of Bruce Wayne & Batman in Gotham. We already have Zoe Kravitz playing a younger Selina Kyle in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. So, it’d be nice for the DCEU to have a rather older Selina Kyle, who would be more along the age of Ben Affleck’s Batman.

But sadly, if Snyder’s DCEU does grow into something bigger after Justice League, then Affleck’s Bruce Wayne may not get to retire. Snyder has revealed in the past that his ultimate plan was for Bruce Wayne to make a big sacrifice in Justice League 3. So, the idea of him retiring and living a “happily ever after” scenario probably won’t occur at all. But still, it is a great idea regardless of whether it will happen or not. Let’s wait and see if the Snyder Cut will be successful, as a lot depends solely on its success.
