10 Times Actors Had Major Issues on Set Behind The Scenes

Actors Had Major Issues on Set:

The struggles of stars are mostly overshadowed by the glitz and glamor surrounding them. It might seem easy from our end to face the hardships in exchange for the millions of dollars and the luxuries. But a celebrity’s life is not always paradise. Actors have to go through hell to even get noticed and sometimes their hard work does not even bring the expected results. We are not talking about the bizarre working hours or the director’s pressure. There are many uncertainties that can happen during filming. Some scenes compel them to do unimaginable things while some have even led to medical emergencies. Today we are going to touch up the biggest discomforts and crises that actors underwent on the shoot. Find out the 10 times actors suffered behind-the-scenes issues on set.

 1. Brendan Fraser in The Mummy

The Mummy had turned into a horrifying experience for actors even in real life. Directors are infamous for getting carried away beyond boundaries and for becoming ruthless to get what they want. The director of The Mummy had tightened Brendan’s noose so much that Brendan was choking and saved by a difference of few seconds.

 2. Michael Keaton in Batman

Have you ever wondered what the heroes do when they have to pee? The tights without any zipper seem to be pretty impractical for washroom purposes. These issues may never come up in the movies where logic doesn’t work as it does in our world. But in real life, Michael Keaton had to endure the cons of the Bat-suit. He couldn’t use the bathroom due to the suit’s tight-fitting and had to stay without coffee despite his addiction.

 3. Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator

Facts About The Terminator

You might assume that we are talking about the stunts that the action star had to perform in the classic action/sci-fi. But Arnold had no issues with jumping from a window or other dangerous stunts. What he had to face makes the fight scenes look like minor stress. In order to cast smoke from the cyborg’s body, the crew poured acid into his jacket. Boy! What all do actors have to go through to achieve authenticity.

 4. Jonah Hill in Wolf of Wall Street

Wonder what the actors were really snorting in Wolf of Wall Street? Jonah had to sniff fake cocaine so many times for the movie that he ended up getting terribly sick. It got so serious that he had to be admitted to the hospital for weeks.

 5. Robert Pattinson in Twilight

A fight sequence had almost torn Pattinson’s butt muscles. From then onwards, a physiotherapist was always present on the sets to assist the actors in case of such medical urgencies.

 6. Margaret Hamilton in The Wizard of Oz

It wasn’t just Margaret but many actors and crew suffered injuries during the shoot of The Wizards of Oz. The classic children movie was a nightmare behind the scenes. The burning temperature on the sets and the makeup and costumes led to allergic reactions and breathing problems. Margaret who played the Wicked Witch had to consume food with a straw so her makeup wouldn’t be spoiled. She also suffered severe burns after being set on fire after an accident on the set.

  7. Sylvester Stalone in Rocky

This time it was Stalone who got carried away with his character. He wanted his expressions to look so real that he asked Dolph Lundgren to hit so hard that he passes out. The next time he opened his eyes, he found himself in an intensive care as he got hit in the chest so hard that his heart banged against his ribs.

 8. Richard Kiel in The Spy Who Loved Me

Kiel appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker as Jaws. In the story, his teeth were supposed to scare his enemies and the audience. But in the reality, it was Kiel who suffered the most pain from the set of teeth. They were so painful that he couldn’t wear them for longer than a few seconds.

 9. Tippi Hedren in The Birds

Ever seen birds flying around a female star in a picturesque video? It may seem romantic and dreamy on the screen but the reality is a nightmare as shown by Alfred Hitchcock. The genius mind had his own enigmatic ways of directing and promoting movies that went right over our heads. One of his eccentric methods was when he let out real-life birds at Tippi in The Birds. The actress had to endure their scratches, pecking, and also occasional craps.

 10. Kevin Page in RoboCop

Kevin plays an employee, Mr. Kinney, in RoboCop who was mercilessly killed by ED-209 robocop during a boardroom meeting. Kevin’s screams during the violent attack sounded quite natural because the pain was 100% real. There were firecrackers attached to his suit that blew up when his character was shot. One of them was right next to his groin and Kevin saw stars when it burst.

Some honorable mentions are-

Matt Damon in Elysium

Had to shoot in the biggest rubbish dump in Bordo Poniente in Mexico.

Rooney Mara in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Had to get dead drunk to look edgy.
