In his latest Twitter and Instagram post, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds celebrated the 6th anniversary of the leaked animated video of Deadpool. In 2014, someone had leaked the test footage of Deadpool on YouTube which was followed by appreciations from everyone and encouraged FOX Studios to go ahead with the project. After being kept on hold for years, the first Deadpool finally released in 2016. The worldwide success of the movie led to its 2nd installment after 2 years.
But Ryan Reynolds is still “solving” the mystery behind the leakage of the video that revived his career. Many of us haven’t ruled out the possibility of Ryan being the guilty party himself. After all, not only was he benefitted the most but starring as Deadpool in a standalone was always his dream. Its execution was held for development for years and Reynolds had to settle down for an embarrassing version of Wade Wilson in X-Men series. But the reboot of the character as Deadpool was a massive commercial and critical success. Despite being an R-rated film, it broke the records for the X-Men franchise by earning about $783.1 million in the world box office. Deadpool 2, however, was PG-13 and made $778. 9 Million.
It’s been about 6 years since the first release but Ryan hasn’t given up investigating. He went to the extent of pinning evidence and pictures of suspects on a corkboard last year that also included his wife Blake Lively and Wolverine star Hugh Jackman. Even Betty White, who played his grandma in The Proposal is a suspect as you can spot her on the corkboard. Reynolds, who is known for his wit posted a spoof montage of Unsolved Mysteries on the 6th “Leakaversary”.
The future of Deadpool 3 has been uncertain ever since Disney took over FOX Studios. Even though the news of Deadpool joining the Disney MCU family had floated around, there hasn’t been any further update on that. In fact, the fate of most of the X-Men characters is still obscure. Last year on the 5th anniversary of the leaked footage, Ryan played on the word “Phase 5” which was a subtle reference to MCU Phase 5. He said “Investigation heading into year 5. Or as I call it, ‘Phase 5.’ The point is, I love conspiracy-yarn. #LeakAversary”.
Even though Ryan is never to be taken seriously, his latest caption has raised our hopes for the legacy of Deadpool. The actor has broken the silence on Deadpool’s developments by blaming the leakage for its delay.
The caption read
“It’s why the next #Deadpool film is taking so long. Still trying to solve this. Happy #Leakaversary ”

This video worked as a relief for fans as it indicated that Deadpool is still on the cards for MCU.
