Chad Stahelski, the John Wick franchise director, recently shared his list of actors he would love to work with for a potential John Wick 5. Although it remains unknown if a fifth John Wick film will be made, Stahelski has expressed interest in expanding the Wick universe with spin-offs, such as the Ana de Armas-led Ballerina and the upcoming TV series The Continental.
During an exclusive interview with The Direct’s Klein Felt, Stahelski shared that there is “a huge list” of actors he would like to work with in the Wick universe, including Cillian Murphy, Colin Farrell, Charlize Theron, Michelle Yeoh, and Jurnee Smollett. Stahelski also mentioned Robert Downey Jr. and Peter Dinklage as actors he would like to work with in the future. Stahelski has directed plenty of Hollywood A-listers in his time working on the John Wick franchise, including Oscar-winner Halle Berry. The director shared how Berry ended up getting cast, recalling how she showed up at his door, demanding to be in the film, saying, “Write the script where I’m in it.”
Despite the success of John Wick 4, it’s unclear if a fifth film will happen. Stahelski has mentioned that he wants to “give John Wick a rest” for now, but that could change in the future. Regardless, it’s fascinating to hear who the director has in mind for roles in potential future films. One of the names that Stahelski mentioned that seems perfect for the Wick universe is Cillian Murphy. The Peaky Blinders and Batman Begins actor has great potential to play a John Wick villain. He could be the perfect fit for a role as a member of the mysterious High Table that has been teased for four films now.
Although John Wick 5’s fate remains unanswered, the franchise has become a beloved action-packed series, and it seems as though just about anyone would be interested in taking on a role if asked by the director. John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently playing in theaters worldwide. With the success of the previous installments, it’s clear that there is a significant fan base eagerly awaiting any news of a potential fifth film. Regardless of whether or not another film is made, it’s clear that Stahelski has plenty of exciting ideas and a long list of talented actors in mind for future projects.
