Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds’ Legendary Feud Started Due to Scarlett Johansson

Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds’ Legendary Feud:

The only feud that is almost as iconic as Jimmy Kimmell & Matt Damon is of the Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds, our very own lovable Deadpool. Most of you wouldn’t know that this feud actually dates way back to 2008. This was the time when Reynolds & Scarlett Johansson got married. And apparently, these two legends started pulling each other’s legs because of Scarlett Johansson. Jackman was good friends with Johansson, so it does make sense.

After the wedding of ScarJo & Ryan Reynolds, Jackman & Reynolds starred together in X-Men: Origins Wolverine. So things on set would’ve certainly been surreal as that is where these two probably became great frenemies. During his recent interview with The Daily Beast, Jackman gave us a brief history of how the feud between Reynolds & him began. He said:

“…Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set I was like, Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I’m watching, and we started ribbing each other that way, and then it all escalated with the Deadpool thing and him calling me out, and trying to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted. [Laughs]”

This was the time when Reynolds became Deadpool for the first time and he & Jackman absolutely hit it off almost instantly. Reynolds has obviously been trying to get one more outing with Jackman as Wolverine, but he has been constantly denying that after his emotional retirement from playing Wolverine. Anyway, their feud is total fun and honestly gives us a lot of content to write about. So we’d say that they should continue this feud for years to come because it is absolutely awesome.

Very recently, Hugh Jackman celebrated the 3 year anniversary of Logan. He wrote:

“3 years ago, on this day, LOGAN was released. Thank you for the many (and I really mean MANY) years of sweat, steamed chicken and the role of a lifetime! #thankful #Wolverine #xmen #Logan”

And along with the chunky meat sandwich that Jackman gave us, we get an amazing dip to savor it from our very own Ryan Reynolds. He shares a parody video of the way Logan died and pays his respect in the “Deadpool” way.

Wolverine is the role that has given Jackman everything. So he doing justice to the character was important. In a twisted tale of events, Jackman revealed in an interview that he was about to get fired from playing the role. He said:

“I was told that things weren’t really working out as they hoped. I was about to get fired from my first Hollywood movie – the biggest of my career. I was angry, I went home to my wife and I complained. I was whinging an Olympic level of whinging to Deb, my wife, and moaning about this person and that person. She listened to me very patiently for about an hour and finally she just said, ‘Listen, I think you have just got to trust yourself. You are worrying way too much about what everything else is thinking. Just go back to the character, focus on that, trust your instinct… you’ve got this.’ To me that was love. Someone that believes in you when you don’t fully believe in yourself.”

Well, we’re glad that he pulled through. But we’re sad that Disney couldn’t buy Fox sooner because Jackman recently revealed that he would’ve surely appeared in the MCU if the acquisition had happened earlier. When asked about appearing in the MCU, he said:

“Totally. Honestly, Marlow, if seven years ago that had happened I’d be like, “Oh yeah!” but I knew it was the right time for me to leave the party—not just for me, but for the character. Somebody else will pick it up and run with it. It’s too good of a character not to. It’s kind of like, you’re on your way home and your friend rings you and goes, Oh, dude, a new DJ just came on and the music is awesome, are you going to come back? And you say, Sounds good but… no. They’re fine with someone else.”

We could’ve gotten several amazing crossovers like Wolverine & the Avengers, Wolverine & Deadpool, Logan & Spidey, and so on. All these could still happen, but obviously, not with Hugh Jackman.
