Suicide Squad David Ayer’s Cut is Now Rumored to be Getting a Release

Suicide Squad David Ayer’s Cut:

Zack Snyder’s Justice League has been a big victory for the fans and now suddenly, there is a lot of talk about David Ayer’s Suicide Squad cut as well. People are demanding to see that as well after Ayer confirmed how his movie was different from the theatrical release of the movie in every way shape and form. The story & the tone was supposed to be very different. Like the Snyder Cut, people are also in full support of the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. In fact, directors like James Gunn and Cathy Yan have also supported his cut of the movie.

It is like a normal studio norm to come in and order necessary reshoots. But apparently, WB has done it quite a lot and the fans haven’t really been able to get their heads around after the reports of those significant reshoots made their way onto the internet. WB ordered Whedon to completely change Snyder’s Justice League and we have seen the result of it. But they also did the same with Ayer’s Suicide Squad. As a result, the film did turn out to be profitable, but it was a critical failure. Maybe the critics would’ve liked the original cut of the movie that Ayer intended to release.

Apparently, the film that Ayer made was an action-drama flick. But the arrival of Deadpool completely changed things for his film as the WB execs ordered to turn the film into a comedy. So, a movie that was supposed to showcase the complexities of characters like Joker & Harley Quinn was turned into an action-comedy movie.

David Ayer's Suicide Squad Cut Exists

People didn’t really raise their voices quite a lot back when Suicide Squad was released because, in a 2016 interview, Ayer himself said that he had to remove certain things he shot because they didn’t fit into the story. He said:

“This cut of the movie is my cut. There’s no sort of parallel universe version of the movie, the released movie is my cut. And that’s one of the toughest things about writing, shooting, and directing a film, is you end up with these orphans and you f—king love them and you think they’d be amazing scenes and do these amazing things but the film is a dictatorship, not a democracy, and just because something’s cool and charismatic doesn’t mean it gets to survive in the final cut. The flow of the movie is the highest master.”

But now it seems that he had to say all of this because of the changes that WB’s execs made into his story. There were several things that were supposed to be different. the final battle would’ve been different as Diablo would have survived. Joker would’ve made some sort of deal with Enchantress after Harley Quinn would’ve chosen to stay with her team. Quinn & Deadshot were supposed to fall for each other, and overall, the film was supposed to set up the arrival of Steppenwolf as well. But none of that happened.

The Ayer Cut certainly exists as David Ayer himself has confirmed it. In fact, he also said that it is complete and only requires a bit of post-production work to be done. Till now, we were thinking that this is a cut that might not be released like Zack Snyder’s Justice League. But apparently, A new report from DCEU Mythic suggests that the discussions for the release of the Ayer Cut have already begun at WB. And the movie will find its way on HBO Max.

It’s clear HBO Max needs to get into a stronger position in the market of streaming services. It has not attracted subscriptions as Disney+ did upon its launch because there is no major original content to show for now. To attract more subscribers, it is obvious that more original content will have to be added. And if WB already has access to an original, unseen version of a popular movie that people want, then why won’t they release it? There’s a massive chance that the Ayer Cut will be released now. Let’s see what the future holds.
