Hulk vs. Wolverine Movie:
Kevin Feige’s plan is to expand the MCU at a rate hitherto undreamt of. Phase 1 was the slowest to open things up. Phase 2 picked up its pace as it began to set up the deeper corners of the MCU on Earth and in the Cosmos. Phase 3 brought in a crazy number of heroes. And now, the next 2 phases will bring us stories literally involving every faction that exists in the comics. Mutants like Wolverine, Inhumans like Ms. Marvel, heroes based on Supernatural elements like Blade, Asian heroes like Shang-Chi are all getting their own stories. MCU veterans like Thor & the Hulk will return, leading us into new MCU territories. Marvel is building up the most renown, and the most obscure teams all at the same time. One such unfamiliar team that is coming to the MCU is Alpha Flight.
These days, everyone is relying upon scoops because there are no major news updates for the upcoming MCU and DC movies. Scoopers like Roger Wardell, Mikey Sutton, and Charles Murphy have done well trying to get us new scoops about the future of the MCU. And among those scoops is the one about Alpha Flight that has hit the internet as a courtesy of Charles Murphy. Apparently, this update about the Canadian team of enhanced individuals hasn’t popped up for the first time.
Last year, it was Mikey Sutton who stated that Marvel is looking to do a Hulk vs. Wolverine movie which will also involve Alpha Flight. After that, Mark Ruffalo himself claimed that he wants Hulk & Wolverine to fight in the future. But for now, Hulk is only going to appear in the She-Hulk series. As for Wolverine, it has been rumored that he will also make his debut through a Weapon X TV series. And now we’ve got another report about the third piece of the puzzle, i.e. Alpha Flight.
Charles Murphy has stated that Marvel Studios is very interested in the Canadian side of Marvel characters as apart from Wolverine and Deadpool, Guardian, Northstar, Aurora, Sasquatch, Shaman, and Snowbird are the characters that Kevin Feige is looking to bring in as a team called the Alpha Flight.
Black Widow is setting up the Russian team called The Winter Guard. Shang-Chi will give us some sort of Asian team of heroes. And now, a Canadian team of supers is also being talked about. Mikey Sutton stated that in the Hulk vs. Wolverine movie, the US Govt. will be sending Hulk to Canada in order to retrieve Wolverine, who has escaped after gaining his claws. As he gets there, he’d cross paths with another group of individuals who are also looking for Logan, the Alpha Flight. So, either Hulk & the Alpha Flight could team up, or Hulk might team up with Wolverine to take on the Alpha flight (obviously after battling Wolvi himself). But this is a crossover event that seems to be the ultimate goal.
No. 1 – Alpha Flight gets introduced in one of the upcoming projects. No. 2 – Hulk gets further development in She-Hulk. No. 3 – Wolverine gets introduced in Weapon 3. All three of these pieces could come together in a Hulk vs. Wolverine movie. But all of it is speculation for now. It’d be interesting to see how the MCU manages to handle the introduction of so many characters all at once with the possibility of Superhero fatigue lurking around the corner.
Even if things don’t go as they’ve been stated above, Alpha Flight could still be coming into the MCU. Canadian filmmakers Jen and Sylvia Soska have already shown interest in directing an Alpha Flight project. And, Kevin Smith also stated 2 years ago on his podcast that Alpha Flight is a team that could soon arrive in the MCU. Here’s what he said:
“I might go safe and go with Alpha Flight. No. 1 it’s Canadian, so of course that plays well up here, but I wasn’t going for like ‘Canadian diversity’, I was going for, Northstar is the first openly gay comic book character so that might be a way to kind of push the line a little bit, and you know you’re not going “come see the movie about the gay superhero all by himself’. He’s in a team ya know, so then maybe it goes down a little smoother and I didn’t mean that in a dirty way.”
If so many people have been talking about this team, then Marvel probably must be having some plans for them.
