Green Lantern & Superman Movies Won’t Be Made For Next 5-10 Years

Green Lantern & Superman Movies Won’t Be Made:

It’s just unfair what WB did to Man of Steel 2. People were looking forward to seeing another Superman movie with Henry Cavill, but WB has opted against it. He will never return as Superman as WB will go on to develop some other projects using different actors for Superman. Just a little while back, we got to know about a new deal that JJ Abrams had struck with WB. Rumors suggested that Abrams got to select projects and he chose to direct Superman & Green Lantern Corps. But that definitely won’t happen now.

WB has upcoming movies that line up till 2023-2024. And none of those films actually involve solo Superman or Green Lantern Corps projects. We can be certain of that because WB has announced TV Series for both these heroes. Just a couple days ago, a Superman series got green lit on the CW. Tyler Hoechlin will reprise his role as Superman & Elizabeth Tulloch will continue playing Lois Lane. And, we could also expect multiple seasons of the Superman series to come in as well. This probably kills the chances for a Superman movie.

One might argue that The Flash is also getting a movie even though there is a series that has been running on the CW, so why can’t the same happen for Superman as well? The same cannot happen for Superman because WB is not really interested to invest in another Solo Superman movie. They are actually developing projects around other Superman-related characters. A Supergirl movie is under development at WB and that is the only project where we’d see another Superman in the movies.

Other than Supergirl, We Got This Covered has reported that WB is eager to work out a standalone Krypton movie. , the movie will be about the planet being on the verge of destruction, but here we will actually see a young Kal-El. Zack Snyder gave us a big picture of how Krypton was destroyed as he showed Jor-El’s dying efforts to send a baby Kal-El to Earth. But in this film, Kal-El will already have grown up into a young boy on Krypton itself. He will still be leaving Krypton as the planet gets destroyed but as a young teenage boy.

More than this, the big give away is the announcement of a Green Lantern series. WB is producing a Green Lantern series for HBO Max which will be developed by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Greg Berlanti is extremely excited about the upcoming big budget Green Lantern series he will get to develop. Berlanti stated that WB is producing “in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can’t reveal any more about that just yet.”

Since this is going to be a big-budget series that will be an exclusive HBO Max project, it is obvious that WB won’t be doing a Green Lantern movie at the same time. And, we can also be very certain of the fact that this series will run for multiple seasons. Since it is a series, there will also be enough time to explore more than just one Green Lantern. Both Hal Jordan & John Stewart can be the protagonists at the very same time while Sinestro could be the villain. And, we could see the entire Green Lantern corps come into the picture as well.

WB has their hands full for the next 5-6 years. The next year is going to bring in some girl power with Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984. 2021 is going to be dedicated to Batman-related movies with Matt Reeves’ The Batman & James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad making their way to the theatres, and Aquaman 2 has been slated for a December 2022 release. In 2022, we’d definitely be getting a Black Adam movie. And, WB could even schedule The Flash for 2022 itself.

From 2023 & beyond, we might get to see a Supergirl movie, sequels to Shazam! Wonder Woman 1984, The Batman The Suicide Squad & probably even Joker. So, there’s just no room for Green Lantern & Superman. JJ Abrams might direct a Justice League reboot instead.
