It was the 1940’s. World War Two was still raging on in all its gory glory. The American populace were outraged after the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbour led to the death of thousands of innocent troops that were caught off-guard. The Americans were eager to go to war against the Axis powers. So Joe Simon and Jack Kirby decided to use this as an opportunity to launch the first Captain America issue. The character was incredibly popular and sold more than a million copies. After the war was over, Cap’s popularity subsided and he was made to be frozen in ice, resurfacing only years later to lead the Avengers when the time was right

During World War Two, the country that suffered the most at the hands of the Axis powers other than Soviet Russia was probably France. The entire nation was invaded in one swift lightning speed attack called the Blitzkrieg. While the army soon surrendered due to overwhelming Nazi attacks, the entire world grew to hate the French during that time as they surrendered when they faced the enemy. Captain America, was also against the French decision to surrender. When a Nazi Alien asked him to give up, this was Captain America’s reply – “Surrender? Surrender? Peggy Carter will always be the one true love of Captain Marvel. She was the one that helped Cap get through the toughest of times during the War, his memories of her being the reason he could put a smile on his face even during the most perilous of situations. So when we saw an Old Peggy Carter suffering from Alzheimer’s disease meet Captain America at the end of The First Avenger movie, it broke our collective hearts. We thought that Cap’s love story has come to a tragic end but it just became weirder. Agent 13, the secret agent assigned by Nick Fury to guard Captain America, lived right next door to Cap’s apartment, posing as his neighbour. Agent 13, whose real name is Sharon Carter, is Peggy Carter’s niece in the movies while in the comics, she is Peggy’s younger sister!

His origin story also makes sense. He was frozen in ice under the depths of the Arctic Ocean, which is almost like suspended animation. He also led several mass lynching campaigns of people suspected of being communist sympathisers. Marvel later ret-conned those stories claiming that those stories were just the Hallucination of a crazy High School teacher posing as Captain America.

But that did not stop Steve Rogers from fighting evil guys and protecting innocent people from harm. Tony Stark designed the super-soldier exoskeleton armour just for Captain America. One of its many features were Vertigo Induction, which swiftly incapacitated foes without even hurting them. That is so Captain America!!

At the end of the last issue of the series, Captain America fights alongside Blade, after realizing that his body has synthesised immunity to the Vampire infection.

During the Spider-Island arc, Captain America is kidnapped by the super-villain called the Jackal and is experimented upon. The genetic experiment on Captain America turns him into a huge spider. Now called the Spider-King, the giant spider had the star spangled banner on its chest and almost killed Spider-Man before the wall-crawler found the means to take him down. It was a strange and extremely creepy scene to see a giant spider in red, white and blue attack our favourite neighbourhood superhero.

Captain America will appear next in the MCU in Avengers: Endgame, which is set for release on 26th April 2019. The official film synopsis of the movie has been recently released and it states:

“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos.
