Avengers: Endgame Theory –
The events of Avengers: Infinity War were ones that will affect the narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long time to come. The Mad Titan went to great lengths to ensure that the universe not only exists but thrives endlessly and life is checked at proper intervals to make sure that it does not run rampant. The job of policing the rampancy was self-imposed by Thanos into himself to ensure the salvation of all living creatures.
To fulfill this end, the Mad Titan pursued and sought after the power of the infinity stones. The Mad Titan seemingly did accomplish his mission in Infinity War when he wiped out half of all life in creation but we can be sure that this is bound to change in Avengers: Endgame.
It may not be clear just how the Avengers plan to exact revenge on the Mad Titan for his tyrannical ways but it is pertinent to notice that all of these efforts will be brought to the fruition only when the Avengers work as a team. Every time the Avengers movies have come around, the core team has been prone to in battles and their relationship has been often plagued by mistrust. Not to make light of the Avengers’ accomplishments, the heroes do seem to take their sweet time to get things done.
One of the purest relationships in the entire team seems to be between the monster and the spy. Yes, I do mean Hulk and Black Widow and no I do not mean the romance between Banner and Natasha. You see Black Widow is the only one in the entire Marvel roster who is capable of calming down the Hulk and if rumors of Professor Hulk are to be believed then Black Widow might be imperative to the entire story arc of the Hulk in the last Avengers movie.
Endgame is surely going to see Hulk take center stage after his clear absence in the majority of Infinity War. The fans are starving for some Jade giant action and Marvel knows better than to not give in to fan demands. Regardless there is another piece of evidence in the theory that must be analyzed. Yes, I am talking about Scarlet Witch and the visions she infused into the Avengers when they invaded Ultron’s compound near Wakanda. It seems that even though all of the visions shown by Scarlet Witch were presented to the audience except one.
We never got to see what the Witch showed Hulk. The theory argues that the Scarlet Witch did not show the heroes lies and concoctions but a glimpse of the future to the best of their understanding. The visions were a warning by the cosmic powers to the Avengers themselves. The theory also contends that this is why we don’t get to see Hulk’s vision. Because the Hulk saw something that will come to pass in Avengers: Endgame.
It is the suggestion of the Reddit user that Dr. Bruce Banner will continue to operate under the protection of Black Widow and Captain America and when the counter-attack begins, Dr. Banner will witness a tragedy that will trigger the angry Hulk to come out. It is a viable theory and it may just give the writers enough emotional grit to satiate the fans and their cravings for death and destruction. The idea being that Black Widow will not only befall an unimaginable fate but even this untimely end will be due to her duty to protect Bruce and his work.
This failure on the part of Bruce (the failure to protect the ones he loves even when he possesses the power to do so) is believed to be the trigger for the Hulk to finally Hulk out in Avengers: Endgame. It may be true or be pure conjecture, not much can be said at this point but that means the idea cannot be completely ruled out either. It must be evaluated and carefully studied if we wish to exact any sort of semblance of a story from it.
The idea of Hulk coming back due to rage on the death of the close one is a powerful one but does it have the same magic that previous deaths did when we know all of them are bound to be reversed? I guess we will find out.
