Captain America has shown us numerous times why he is the leader of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He is just a human being. While it might sound strange but Captain America does not have any superpowers so to speak. The Super Soldier Serum did not make him Superman but only enhanced his body up to the point that is the apex of what a person could achieve with the toughest and most rigorous of training regimen.
His mind, body and soul are still very human and he still manages to stand amongst the Gods. This is a feat amongst itself. But there were times in the MCU when Captain America too displayed godlike strength which caught the fans off guard. Presenting – 10 times Captain America did something that is physically impossible for a human being!!
10. Destroys a fully armed Quin-Jet by himself
Captain America shows why people should not mess with him when he destroys an armed and combat ready Shield Quin-jet sent to stop him using nothing but his motorcycle, his trusted shield and some good old fashioned moves. He drives the bike straight into the jet, leaps forward to gain some good footing and throws his shield into the jet’s turbine inflows, resulting in the jet malfunctioning mid-flight and crashing violently as Cap jumps out of the way to have the perfect landing. All that follows is a massive applause!
9. Outruns Black Panther on a foot chase
Civil War may have been the one that went on to divide the Avengers forever, but it did have some pretty great scenes. While chasing Bucky who has just managed to escape on a motorcycle, Black Panther makes it seem like he is the only one fast enough to catch him all thanks to the heart-shaped drug that the latter has consumed to give him superhuman levels of physical attributes. But alas, he is wrong. Another guy has managed to close in the gap as well. Captain America displays enormous levels of leg strength when he catches up and even outruns T’Challa in the scene.
8. Jumps from a plane with no parachute
In 2012’s The Avengers, there were reservations amongst the fans about whether Captain America could really make any difference. We mean sure he was the de facto leader of the Avengers but what good was he in the live action world where there were literally Gods and Monsters flying around. Then this scene changed all that. After the Avengers realize that Loki has been spotted, Captain America jumps from the plane. The difference was that he did not have a parachute with him. He just jumped. It goes on to show the level of confidence he has in his abilities.
7. Destroys a 10 man Shield squad inside an Elevator
The Elevator scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier is perhaps one of the best action-choreography scenes of the decade. It defined Captain America as the best close combat fighter within the MCU and established how formidable he was no matter how much the circumstances are titled against his favour.
Ten highly trained Shield agents were sent to apprehend Captain America within an Elevator. Sounds easy right? Except, it is Steve Rogers we are talking about. Using his wits and skills, Captain America outmatches the whole team and escapes unscathed.
6. Makes Iron Man cry like a baby
Iron Man is not strong. But he has his mind. That has been enough for him to bring down Titans to their knees. In The Avengers, Iron Man took down a whole Alien Chitauri Battle Station. Iron Man has one of the most sophisticated weapon systems in the world at his disposal. In Civil War, Iron Man was out for blood after he found out that Bucky was responsible for his parents’ death.
Using the advanced A.I protocols of Jarvis, Iron Man beat the crap out of both Bucky and Cap using Jarvis to predict their future moves with pinpoint accuracy. Still, Cap managed to hold him off and even defeated Tony Stark with a decisive swing of his Vibranium shield into Iron Man’s chest.
5. Fights two of the Black Order generals by himself
Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight are not someone that you would consider a B-List villain. They have conquered worlds for the Mad Titan. They are the very face of wrath and fear for multiple civilizations that fell to the rampage of Thanos. And guess how showed them their place when they came for the Mind Stone on Earth. Captain America, in an incredible display of strength, made both the Black Order generals bite the dust. He was so quick and agile that none of them could even touch him.
4. Stops a Helicopter from taking off
In Civil War, we saw the most famous graphic representation of Captain America’s true physical strength when Captain stopped a Helicopter being piloted by Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier from taking off. The amount of force required for making a Helicopter stay in the air is in bar greater magnitude than what a human could possibly exert. Captain America did not just stop the Helicopter but ensured that it stayed there for quite a while. Did we mention that Cap was also fighting the Winter Soldier at the time?
3. Almost lifts Mjolnir
Strength is not just muscle. Strength comes from the mind and soul as well. To be mentally strong enough is to win half the battle. Safe to say, Captain America’s will is strong enough to make a God sweat. And we mean it literally. In Age of Ultron, all the heroes try to lift Mjolnir in a drunken stupor.
Thor is sure that no one is worthy enough to lift it. But Captain America, who cannot get drunk due to the Super Soldier Serum mind you, decides to give it a try and almost manages to lift it. Had he lifted the hammer, Thor would have had to relinquish the throne of Asgard to the Super Soldier.
2. Destroys a punching bag with one punch
In The Avengers of 2012, we realize that Captain America has been sulking all the time ever since he was thawed out of the Arctic Ocean. After the events of The First Avenger, Cap had missed a lot. Peggy had married and was now an old woman suffering from Alzheimer’s. The world had changed drastically in the past 70 years he was down under the polar bed.
He lets all his frustration out on a punching bag. The sorry bag did not even know what came for him when Captain America got so angry that he destroyed it in one punch, showing that Cap was pulling his punches and was about to repeat the same with a line of punching bags piled up in front of him.
1. Stopped Thanos
Thanos has beaten the Hulk in a one on one fight. The hulk has destroyed entire alien armadas and stopped an alien troop carrier warship with one punch. The hulk has punched Surtur in the face and lived to tell the tale. The Jade Giant Is dangerous and up until Thanos showed up, was considered the strongest Marvel character in terms of raw, brute strength. In Infinity War, Steve Rogers manages to hold off Thanos in Wakanda using both his arms as the Mad Titan looks in disbelief as to how this puny little man could stop him in his tracks.
