It has been stated by The Hollywood Reporter that we will have a new Batman before the end of this year. Recently, it has also been claimed that the shooting of the film will begin in November this year. Also, there are suggestions that if all goes well in places then we will have a Batman movie in 2021 or even before it.
Well, we all know that ‘The Batman’ movie is going to be directed by none other than Matt Reeves and nothing has been revealed by the director as who is going to portray the character of Batman yet but there have been rumors saying that Ben Affleck is finally out of the cape.
It has been clearly stated by the director of the movie Matt Reeves that his movie isn’t going to be based upon the comic Year One of Frank Miller and fans will be thrilled and shocked to see the new version of Batman as he wants to bring something new to the character. In an interview last year, he said,
“Year One is one of the many comic books that I love. We are definitely not doing Year One, We’re doing a story that is definitively Batman though, and trying to tell a story that’s emotional—and yet is really about him being the world’s greatest detective and all the things that for me, since I was a kid, made me love Batman.”
Matt Reeves was roped in to direct this one after Ben Affleck‘s idea of handling all the strings of directing, writing, and acting was rejected by the makers along with his script. But, nothing clear has been stated officially about this issue by either Affleck or the studios.
One of the people from the studio has voiced out the differences between Ben Affleck and Matt Reeves in reality. An unknown source stated,
“Affleck was very open and interested in the idea. And also some people within the studio were also clearly interested in the idea if they could get the stars to align. But Matt Reeves was the one who really just wants his film to stand on its own, without any potential baggage from the reception to Justice League and Batman V Superman to weigh it down or cause any kind of distraction from his seminal Batman movie.”
Earlier, there were reports that Reeves is going to show and focus on the younger Batman in his movie and is not looking to bring on the connections or flashbacks of DC’s Justice League and also of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movies in this one as his prime motive is to start Batman from the scratch again.
Also, there were reports in the past suggesting that Ben Affleck was called upon by Warner Bros. for making a cameo appearance in the movie of Matt Reeves but it was Reeves who said refused saying that he simply doesn’t want to attach a single string from the previous character of Batman as what has done, has been done and now he wants to go with a whole new Batman movie.
There are reports from The Hollywood Reporter which hint towards the possibility that the shooting of the movie is going to kick-start from this November. It has been revealed by a reporter of THR, who suggests that,
“The script is basically in, although Reeves will continue tweaking it and working on it. And I’m hearing the studio wants to start shooting in November. So let’s say between now and then?”
