WB Has Revealed The Upcoming DCEU Movies Post Justice League

It’s almost been a month since Justice League hit the theatres and the reaction from the fans are amazing. The movie is really great according to the fans and each and every moviegoer whether he/she is a comic book fan or not, came out having a good time watching the movie. The critics, on the other hand, still followed the same trend that they were with pre-Wonder Woman DCEU movies. The Rotten Tomatoes score for the movie currently stands at 43%. Still, the movie was great but it wasn’t without flaws. It left us with so many burning questions. Here is a list.

Justice League was a huge movie for Warner Bros as a lot was riding on it. The entire future of DC Films shared Universe rested on the shoulders of this DC team-up movie, and it did end up delivering more or less. The earnings are not as big as expected, but the movie will turn out to be very profitable on the box office after its theatrical run ends. Justice League currently stands on $613 Million on the worldwide Box Office.

Now, that the movie has done well overall even after getting mixed reviews, WB can focus on the upcoming projects which are currently under works. DC has a bright future and Warner Bros. has officially revealed their upcoming slate of DC movies at Comic-Con Experience 2017 in Brazil.

This slate is actually similar to what was revealed at New York Comic-Con, with WB and DC now consolidating the projects they are currently focussing on. At Brazil Comic-Con, The first film revealed was a sequel to Wonder Woman, which we know that it is coming out in 2019. The second title card was for Aquaman, which is already under production, and will come out in December 2018.

A title card for Flashpoint was shown as well, indicating that progress on the film has been made, and a Director is being looked for hiring. After that Justice League Dark also had a title card revealed, even after the movie lost its director, Dough Liman.

The 5th card was for Suicide Squad 2. The 6th one was for Shazam. After that, both members of the Bat-family – Batgirl, and Batman also received title cards for their solo films. And finally, Green Lantern Corps was also given its own title card.

Films absent from the list included the solo Nightwing movie along with the various Suicide Squad centric films which included Gotham City Sirens, the solo Harley Quinn movie, the Harley x Joker movie, as well as the Joker origin movie.

Along with that the solo Cyborg movie, as well as Black Adam’s solo film, was also absent, alongside the long-rumored Deathstroke film. Beyond that, the sequel to Justice League was also missing from the list.

So, DC has its priorities set and here is the final list of all upcoming movies under focus.

Aquaman

Jason Momoa is playing Aquaman. There’s no doubt that they’ve been taking Aquaman very seriously. Amber Heard will also appear as Queen Mera. Patrick Wilson is Ocean Master and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta. The movie will release on December 21, 2018.

Shazam!

Shazam! will be directed by David Sandberg and is going to begin production in 2018 and is going to hit the theatres on April 5, 2019. The cast will probably be announced at this year’s comic con. Zachary Levi has signed on to play Shazam.

The Batman

After Ben Affleck left the Director’s job for The Batman, WB hired Matt Reeves to take on the character and the script is currently under works. The movie is going to begin production in 2018 along with actors like Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke and Jared Leto as the Joker probably showing up. The movie will probably hit the theaters in July 2019.

Wonder Woman 2

After the huge success of the first Wonder Woman movie, it was no surprise that WB will be looking for a sequel. Patty Jenkins is on board for the sequel and the release date of the movie is November 1, 2019. It is going to be set up in the 1980s during the Cold War.

Flashpoint

This is the movie that WB wants to take its time to get it right. The film has lost 2 directors and is currently on a hunt for a new one. The script has been written though and the movie will probably hit the theaters in 2019 or 2020. Considering the fanbase for the character, WB will surely want to get it out soon as this is going to be the next big team-up movie.

Suicide Squad 2

DCEU

Not a lot is known about the movie but we all know that a sequel to the box office blockbuster and the Oscar-winning movie is under works. The timeline of the movie is not known yet but Will Smith is surely going to reprise his role as Deadshot in the movie along with Margot Robbie and others. Gavin O’Connor has helmed the movie.

Green Lantern Corps

Not much is known about the movie currently, except the fact that it is being written by David S. Goyer and will feature two Green Lanterns, Hal Jordon and John Stewart. The movie will be set up in space and will release on July 24, 2020.

Batgirl

Joss Whedon has been hired as the director for Batgirl in the DCEU and will be working on the movie now as Justice League is out and he had stepped in as a replacement for Zack Snyder, the director of Justice League.

Justice League Dark

The magical team lead by John Constantine is also under the plans of WB.  Edge of Tomorrow’s director Doug Liman had helmed the movie but recently left the director’s chair. Still, the movie is under works. Considering the success Marvel’s magician Doctor Strange has had, WB should be moving forward with this movie very soon.
