Captain Marvel is the next movie in line on the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie slate. We have seen several promotional campaigns for the movie done by Marvel Studios, with the trailer for the movie releasing last year. There have been two full-blown trailers for the movie and there is reportedly more in line as the release date nears.
The Marvel Marketing machine is in full swing to keep the hype train running. They have just released yet another interesting piece form the Captain Marvel movie that caught our attention. Believe it or not – there are two Captain Marvels in the Captain Marvel movie. Presenting – Leaked Captain Marvel Image features younger version of previous Captain Marvel!!
The reveal was brought to the fans during the College Football Playoff National Championship game. The event was conducted on January 7th and is a huge opportunity for brands to showcase their products and new offerings to everyone.
Captain Marvel being the MCU’s prime jewel for now was on top of that list of offerings. The promotional video for the movie has given us the first glimpse of the original Captain Marvel from the comic books. And we can thank a Reddit user who managed to post the first picture of the leaked image of Brie Larson talking to a girl referred to as “Little Monica” in the frame.
Who is Monica? Monica aka Monica Rambeau is one of the greatest and most powerful superheroes of the Marvel Comics Universe. She has gone by many aliases – Photon, Spectrum, Lady of Light and eventually, she has also adopted the name of Captain Marvel. Monica currently has powers that allow her the ability to manipulate the entire electromagnetic spectrum and bend the forces of light to her will. Her powers, some would argue, puts her league above Carol Danvers.
There were rumours going around last year that Lashana Lynch might be playing the role of Captain Marvel in the movie. She has since been confirmed to portray the role of Monica’s mother in the movie. But remember this – the Captain Marvel movie is set in the 1990’s of the MCU, well beyond the point within the timeline for the officially first MCU movie – Iron Man. This means that if Monica is still alive in the MCU after the Thanos snap, then she will be paying a pivotal role in Captain Marvel, or even in Avengers: Endgame.
Addition of Monica Rambeau to the list of characters that will play a part in the Captain Marvel movie does throw a monkey wrench into the can of fire that is Marvel Studios. Everything is too volatile now in the MCU ever since Stan Lee passed away and they might be looking at someone else for direction. In these troubling times, should Marvel really do any sort of experiment?
Looks like the answer for them is a resounding yes! There will be two Captain Marvels in the movie. Only one of them will have superpowers but we are pretty sure Marvel is working towards a storyline to change that and equal the playing field. Anyway, have a look at what the redditor posted:
