Avengers: Endgame Theory –
The advent of Infinity War along with the Mad-Titan Thanos marked the paradigm shift in comic book moviemaking that the industry had been looking for a long time. We saw death and destruction reigning down from heaven as the mighty Thanos brought forward his wrath and snapped half of all creation out of existence on a whim.
His power and act were so terrifying that in an instant the entire ‘Infinity War’ was brought to a rather abrupt halt. It was this power of the infinity stones that shook our heroes to their core and made us all weep in misery as Thanos retreated to the home planet of Titan at the end of Infinity War. The scenario before the movie differed greatly from the scene after the movie. ‘The electricity of anticipation was only matched by the silence of mourning’.
Without a doubt, the hero who lost the most during the events of Infinity War was none other than our beloved Tony Stark. The man had fought for the fate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since its very inception, nay his actions were what prompted the Marvel Cinematic Universe to blow up like it did. But during Infinity War he lost his home, his suit of armour, his comrades, his protégé (Peter Parker) and most importantly his will to fight on, or so it seems.
The man had taken on Titans before, more than once. He has fought giants and Gods and come out victorious. He has even diverted entire nuclear warheads so that he may be able to save his city and protect innocents from harm. The actions of Tony Stark’s Iron Man are something that we would remember for all of the years to come but it seems that he may not live all that long.
The Avengers: Endgame trailer made it a point to showcase the helplessness of Tony Stark and establish his status as lost in space during the first precious moments of the trailer. The point that it seeks to establish was painstakingly clear, Tony is stuck out in the middle of nowhere and there is no help coming. Plus oh yeah, there is a Mad-Titan with the power of reality on his fingertips who is still at large so yeah maybe you want to deal with that too.
In what presumably are his last moments adrift in space tony decides to record a message for the only person he loves vis-à-vis Pepper Potts. This message is both heartfelt and endearing and more than anything else has a ring of finality to it.
The fate of Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe post the Avengers: Endgame trailer is one shrouded with mystery but we, at QuirkyByte, have a suggestion for the fandom that may very well change the status quo of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Let’s talk about it, shall we? Do you remember Age of Ultron? Tony Stark has a line in that movie that did not matter much then but holds much more weight ever since the Avengers 4 title reveal. “We’re the Avengers,” Stark snapped. “We can bust arms dealers all the livelong day, but that up there… that’s the endgame.”
But what is Stark talking about, he is, of course, referring to the Ultron project, trying to convince his teammates to wrap the earth in a suit of armour. The first iteration of Ultron failed quite cataclysmically but the idea is that Ultron has a much bigger role to play, come Avengers: Endgame. The theory going around the majority of the fandom is that Tony Stark will rebuild a new and better Ultron not only to escape his desperate space situation but also use it as a weapon against Thanos.
If, after all, one Iron Man can wreak such havoc on the Mad Titan, an Iron Legion controlled by the next generation of artificial intelligence may just be the factor needed to change the tide in the direction of the earth’s mightiest heroes in the war to come. Now, this theory is completely arbitrary at this point but it is highly likely that a similar plot may be followed come Avengers: Endgame.
If not a new iteration of Ultron, then definitely a reincarnation of Vision with new artificial intelligence and definitely a better power source than the mind stone will help. What do you think?
Does this theory hold any merit or is it complete hogwash. Do let us know your opinions in the comments down below.
