There are reports that Marvel Studios wants to hire a female director for the movie Guardians of the Galaxy 3 according to a brand new updated rumor from the deepest oceans of the internet. The moment Disney fired the director James Gunn, there were a lot of speculations and rumors about various directors regarding the place and responsibility of directing the Guardians of the Galaxy 3. But, there are rumors that Marvel is going to use the script James Gunn has wrote but changes will be made according to the new director and there are rumors that Marvel is considering to build their success through the hands of females this time.
There are rumors that Marvel Studios want a female director for their Guardians movie as according to the rumor DanielRPK has shared; Marvel wants a female director for this movie despite getting a lot of speculations of Taika Waititi going to handle the job after his great success in Thor: Ragnarok. The demand of female directors at Marvel Studios is huge as Marvel knows that there are many tremendous directors out there who can do this job for them.
If we talk about the reports SuperBroMovies has delivered on the internet, we see that there are many names on the list for the job of director for the Vol.3 of Guardians of the Galaxy. Some of the notable names are of Dee Rees (Mudbound), Michelle MacLaren (Game of Thrones), and S.J. Clarkson (Star Trek 4). We all know all these names are just rumors right now, but we all know that in this industry many time seven the weirdest of rumors becomes a reality.
So, keeping that thing in mind and also the consistent push from Marvel President Kevin Feige and Producer Victoria Alonso on bringing and add some female directors into their Cinematic Universe. The job is going to be a big one as we all know that the incoming director has to beat the standards set by James Gunn in the past.
We have three female directors at Marvel Studios at this point but it’s completely hidden which one of them is going to get the job. But, the stakes of Michelle MacLaren getting the role of the director are high in comparison to others because we all that she was attached to DC’s Wonder Woman and is also going to direct Chris Pratt’s franchise Cowboy Ninja Viking and could get a push for the director’s role.
Chloe Zhao is another name linking to this movie because we all know that she was on the shortlist for the role of director of the movie Black Widow. But, still there are many names such as Amma Asante (Belle), Maggie Betts (Novitiate), Denis Gamze Erguven (Kings), and Angela Robinson (Professor Marston and the Wonder Woman) all are in contention for the Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Nicole Kassell of Watchmen and Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra of Birds of Passage are in the shortlist.
So, with all these directors on the list, it’s going to be a very hard decision to pick one from a group like this where all the female directors are of extraordinary excellence in the field of direction. The decision is delaying the production of the movie and there are reports that the production is going to kick start again in 2021 and before that, all they’re focusing on is to gain the signatures of a good director for this project.
The root of all this is the departure of James Gunn and Chris Pratt has expressed his views and emotions on the departure of James Gunn during Comic-Con by stating that,
“I was a little shocked like everybody and it was crazy timing with Comic-Con and stuff. It’s not an easy time. We all love James and he’s a good friend of ours, but we also really love playing the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a complicated situation for everybody. But all I know is that we put a lot of time, thought, and effort into the statement that we released about it and I think we all kind of want that statement to be essentially what we have to say about it. We were pretty clear and honest about how we feel.”
So, what are your thoughts on this idea of Marvel Studios of giving the strings in the hands of female directors? Also, what are your expectations regarding the Guardians of the Galaxy 3?
