Avengers 4 is still more than 6 months away and we don’t have a single official update about the film from Marvel. Avengers 4 is still practically making all the headlines based on nothing but rumors, leaks, and the insanely cryptic tweets that the directors of the film are putting out. The hype for the movie is so insane that people go crazy about it if Marvel even reveals something as small as the initials of the Avengers 4 title. People assume that the film will open directly after Infinity War, but that does not seem to be the case. Ant-Man and the Wasp had a certain ending which will lead to the opening of Avengers 4, but that won’t be in the same timeline.
In the mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp, we saw that Scott went into the Quantum Realm in order to collect some Quantum Energy for Ava (Ghost), but as it turned out, Thanos made the snap right at that moment causing the entire Pym family to be disintegrated. Now, Scott seems to be stuck within the Quantum Realm. Right before he went in there, Janet Van Dyne mentioned the fact that he should beware of the Time Vortexes.
Since time travel through the Quantum Realm is going to be a major plot point in Avengers 4, people have theorized, and they more or less believe the fact that the Time Vortex will in fact pull Scott and that will cause him to make a time jump 5 years in the future. Even Director Peyton Reed gave the theory of the time vortex some credibility while talking to the Huffington Post, as he said:
“Based on the science that we’ve set up in the first movie and this one. I won’t rule out the possibility, because, again, we are dealing with a time vortex. That could happen.”
So this gives us a more concrete belief that a time jump will be shown in the beginning of the film. Now, MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad who usually has a good insight upon Marvel’s Intel for many projects has also come into the light confirming the rumours of the Time Jump. So, if that does happen, then we will not really see the anticipated scenes of how Earth and the other planets in the Universe reacted to the snap.
Neither would we get to see the bonding reunion between Tony and Steve once Tony returns to Earth from Titan. All that may be shown through flashbacks when Tony explains Scott what really happened right after the Snap.
As seen in the set photos, Tony and Scott are going to stick around with each other for a while, and they will supposedly journey to the Quantum Realm city recently spotted as an Easter Egg in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Also, they will go back in the past, to the events of the first Avengers film. So, all signs really point to a time jump.
Marvel actually seems to be playing smart here as they are letting us assume the scenes that we anticipated to see in the next film, and they will rather focus more time on fleshing out the story of Avengers in areas which are more important.
The upcoming Avengers 4 trailer will probably make things more clear. Here’s the official Synopsis of the film:
