First Look At Arctic, Desert, & Volcano Biomes Revealed in Avatar Sequels Concept Art

We now have a first look at some of the cool new Pandoran biomes that will be featured in the Avatar sequels thanks to recently published concept art. The long-awaited sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, was finally released in December 2021, solidifying plans for three additional sequels. The first Avatar film debuted in theaters a whopping 13 years ago. Director James Cameron has made hints that the upcoming sequels will involve exploration of various areas of Pandora, even though there are still many unanswered questions regarding the plots. New Avatar sequels concept art shows the first look at major biomes:

The new concept art depicts three significant biomes that will be present in the upcoming sequels: arctic, desert, and volcanic, according to special features in Avatar: The Way of Water (as shared by Discovering Pandora on Twitter). It’s unknown when the Sully family will travel to Pandora’s desert or arctic regions, despite the fact that Avatar 3 will feature the Ash People, a Na’vi clan that lives in volcanoes. At the conclusion of Avatar 2 Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) makes the commitment to defend his new home alongside the Metkayina clan rather than flee the invading humans.

It’s possible that something will eventually compel Jake and his family to move given the news that Avatar 3 will introduce two new Na’vi cultures and environments, including the Ash People. It’s unclear what will happen to the previously introduced clans since new clans and environments are expected to be introduced in each Avatar sequel. For instance, the Omatikaya clan, a group of forest-dwelling Na’vi who were prominent in the original film, appeared only briefly in Avatar: The Way of Water.

The involvement of Ronal (Kate Winslet) and Tonowari (Cliff Curtis) in the upcoming movies has not yet been made clear, despite producer Jon Landau’s confirmation that the Metkayina will appear in additional motion pictures.

Additional clans could mean that the Sullys will have new enemies to face in addition to new allies, with the Ash People serving as the secondary antagonists in Avatar 3. Avatar director James Cameron’s epic series is only just getting started, though it’s still unclear how the volcanic, desert, and arctic regions of Pandora will play a role in the plot of the follow-up films.
