The First look at the Potential Villain Minn-Erva From Captain Marvel Revealed
Entertainment Weekly has given us a slew of photos for Marvel’s upcoming feature that we all are excited for. Captain Marvel is going to make her most anticipated debut next year in her solo movie and then she will take on the Mad Titan in Avengers 4. Before we start thinking about Avengers 4, there is quite a lot that these new images of Captain Marvel have revealed. For Starters, we got the official look at her trademark suit from the comics, and besides that, these photos have revealed the potential villains and other big supporting characters from the film.
We know that this movie is going to be based upon the people of three different planets, The Kree Skrulls and the humans from Earth. Our green planet is going to get caught up in the Kree-Skrull wars and that is what will lead an invasion of the shape-shifting aliens on Earth. Captain Marvel will show us how the Kree and people of Earth will team up for a mission to fight off the Skrulls.
In the new Magazine images, we were shown quite a lot of amazing new details about the film. One of the big highlights is the reveal of the Starforce which is described as the Kree’s SEAL Team Six. Korath from the Guardians of the Galaxy seems to be a part of it and we can assume that Jude law’s Mar-Vell will be the one leading this seal team and Ronan would probably be his Right hand man.
One member of this team that has took everyone’s attention can be seen on the right corner and she goes Minn-Erva. Played by Gemma Chan, she can be seen in her trade-mark blue skin just like in the comics where her sole mission was to obtain the secret to Mar-Vell’s genetic code for the Kree but that eventually ends up unsuccessful. Still, she goes on to have abilities later in the same way that Carol ended up acquiring them (through the Psyche-Magnetron) and she even wears an outfit similar to Ms. Marvel.
She then goes on to become a sworn enemy of Carol having gained even more abilities through experimentation on herself. We would surely not get to see Minn-Erva grow so much as a character in Captain Marvel, but she may be set up as a potential big bad for the future. For the matter of the villains, it is just going to be the Skrulls.
EW has revealed quite a lot of details about the film. Earlier it was known to us that actor DeWanda Wise and Ben Mendelsohn also have significant roles which were undisclosed, but now we know for a fact that Mendelsohn will be playing the leader of the Skulls named Talos who is known as Talos the Untamed, due to his ruthless nature as a warrior and he is going to lead the shape-shifting alien race to invade Earth. Here’s the first look at the Skrulls in Captain Marvel, and the Skrull we can see ahead of everyone could be Talos himself.
Well, Talos is different from the rest of the Skrulls as along with his ferocity, he does not actually have the ability to shape-shift which led to him becoming a fierce leader that everyone is afraid of. But it seems that the MCU version of Talos will have this difference as we can see in the image below that Mendelsohn is in human form hiding in plain sight with the two Directors of the film.
Just like every other Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, this one is on to Universe building as well. We will obviously see characters set up to appear in future installments similar to what happens in all franchises of MCU.
Captain Marvel comes out on March 8, 2019. Here’s the official Synopsis of the movie:
“The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races,” the synopsis reads. “Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
