Tony Stark and Peter Parker’s Final Shot Might Be A Clue To Avengers 4

Avengers: Infinity War has been smashing box office records out of the stadium, it opened to a record-breaking opening weekend where it clocked around $640 million at the box office worldwide. The movie has become the fastest ever to reach $1 Billion mark i.e in just 11 days. It continues to be like an unstoppable hurricane and no one knows where will it stop as it is yet to open in several major countries including China. When everything is said and done, it is poised to breach $2 Billion and becoming the 4th movie to have ever done that.

It was the ultimate fan-pleasing thriller but at the same time, it has also left the fans gasping and clutching their seats like never before. The trailers of Infinity War were definitely pointing towards a grim ending, but, not a single soul was ready for the overwhelming emotional impact from an MCU movie, which was previously known for its light and humorous tone. It had extremely high stakes with real consequences that have dramatically altered the MCU.

From fan theories to trying to dig up every actor’s contract, everything failed to stop the barrage of emotions hitting like a speeding truck when Thanos decided to snap his fingers. This post contains some heavy SPOILERS, so proceed at your own risk.

Before the theatrical release of Infinity War, it was widely speculated that one or more members from the original Avengers might die at the hands of Thanos. As the trailers kept pouring, it became more and more clear that it might be Captain America, who will sacrifice himself for the team. Still a soldier in his heart, he might take one for the team for one last time. The iconic frame of Rogers trying to hold off Thanos all by himself almost cemented the thought.

Another theory started floating that it might actually be Tony Stark, who shall make his final appearance. The theory gained traction also due to the fact that Robert Downey Jr. might not renew his contract with Marvel. But all theories were blown into dust when the movie finally hit the theatres. In an unprecedented twist of surprise, the original Avengers managed to come out alive, while most of the members from Phase 2 and Phase 3 turned to dust, quite literally.

The surprising number of unprecedented deaths in Avengers: Infinity War left everyone teary eyed. Right from Bucky to Black Panther, the major players who were considered to be absolutely safe faded off from existence. While each apparent death was emotional, it was Spiderman’s apparent death which pushed that last button in everyone sitting in the theatre.

With the initial reference towards Stark thinking to have a baby with Pepper Potts, with Peter Parker being the closest thing to a son, the guilt and trauma for Tony was palpable. From loud gasps to droplets rolling out from the corner of their eyes, the scene proved to be too impactful.

On top of that, Tom Holland’s brilliance on the screen added extra punch to the gut. While we can talk about the impact of the scene for days to come, the one good thing which came out of it was the insight into the upcoming Avengers 4. Here’s what Infinity War writer said:

“[Avengers 4] doesn’t do what you think it does. It is a different movie than you think it is. Also…[the deaths are] real. I just want to tell you it’s real, and the sooner you accept that the sooner you will be able to move on to the next stage of grief”.

In Spiderman: Homecoming, Kevin Feige had announced that Peter Parker won’t be having the Spider-Sense in the movie. The famous ability which was a highlight in Sam Raimi’s Spiderman trilogy was left to be explored in the future movies.

As the first ever trailer of Avengers: Infinity War hit the internet, the fans were introduced to the brand new Spider Sense of Peter Parker. The appearance of Thanos was dangerous enough to trigger the ability to sense the inevitable.

While a lot of fans might think that it was the only instance where Spiderman shows this ability, another theory claims otherwise. As Thanos snaps his fingers at the end of the movie, almost everyone fades away into dust without any prior warning.

But the very thing which made the scene with Spider-man so emotional also hinted at his ability and a thing or two. Unlike others, Spider-man actually senses the danger to his body and says, “Mr. Stark, I’m not feeling so good…”.

He could actually feel his body being teleported to another dimension. As the scene proceeds, it turns out Parker was not spared by Thanos. One important thing which went unnoticed was the choice of words made by him.

Peter desperately asks for help to Stark by saying “I don’t want to go.” The peculiar thing about this is his choice to go for the word ‘go’ instead of ‘die’. Marvel has always capitalized on such minor things. Another important thing which must be kept in mind is that this dialogue is a direct reference from Doctor Who. For the ones who are uninitiated, Doctor Who has an alien doctor who re-incarnates into different bodies while essentially being the same person. So what does this have in store for Spiderman and the rest of the team?

Well, for one thing, this might be a reference to the soul world, where the souls of all these wiped out creatures are currently being held. As Spider-Man is endowed with the Spider-Sense, it is quite plausible that he sensed that he is being teleported to another dimension instead of actually dying, hence his choice of words.

The idea of getting everyone out the pocket dimension of the Soul World is a herculean task for Tony and the rest of the Avengers, but at least, this tiny bit of knowledge might provide some solace to the grieving heroes in this time of despair. It’s over to you Tony to save the humanity one last time!
