Samsung Launches a Smartwatch which can give Apple a run for its Money
Samsung has launched its Fourth Generation Smartwatch i.e. Gear S3, which is larger and sturdier than its previous models. The Gear S3 smartwatch was released at the IFA Technology trade show in Berlin, which features with some updates in Gear S2 which includes a Bigger screen, a GPS signal, and a 4G-enabled model. S3 has been launched in two variants in the smartwatch range i.e. Classic and Frontier Model, the Frontier model has a more ruggedized design with IP68 waterproofing and military-level durability. Both are teamed with Swiss Designer Yvan Arpa to create a good device with 46mm size wrapped around a 1.3-inch AMOLED display with scratch resistant Gorilla Glass. It has a battery life of 380 mAh.
The Frontier model comes with 4G capability, it can take calls and stream music independently from a smartphone, this is the only feature which was missing in other watches currently in the market. It comes in a Matte Black Colour and also it is the sportier version of the two models. The Classic Model is as polished silver color, also it is 5gms lighter and only has a Bluetooth Connection.
The S3 has a built-in speaker and many sensors which include a Barometer, Altimeter, and GPS. Its users can stream music from Spotify directly on the watch via Wifi, but only in the case of its Frontier Models. And also MST has been added to its Samsung Pay Options. Both the versions of Gear S3 have circular, Gorilla glass Faces and includes Barometer, it is an always on display which features its color range and four days battery life. It also has a rotating bezel. Gear S3 can survive itself for 30minutes in the water and also compatible with Samsung Pay. It will run on the Tizen-operated system rather than Android system. It has a cool and innovative spinning case-control on the back , with enhanced widget layout. There are some new controls which include, to take and reject calls, alarm feature. It’s easy to control the watch after learning it.
But at the same time, Gear S2 will be given some software update, and the Price will remain same and S3’s price is still not decided and it is expected to launch in the 4th Quarter of this year i.e. between Oct.-Dec.’16.
How Gear S3 is compared to Apple Watch
S3 is expected to directly compete with Apple Watch 2, which will be launched with iPhone 7 at the product launch on Sept. 7. It will look similar to the current Apple Watch with same thickness and size. It could have a GPS, Barometer, and a large battery life, but it doesn’t have 4G connectivity but can be more waterproof and with a faster processor.
Samsung had not announced the Prices of its smartwatches and when they will be available in the market but could be similar to its Gear S2 i.e. it could start from £249. Also, Samsung will continue to sell S2 at dropped Price.
